The Lancaster Bible College men's basketball team won its fourth straight game on Saturday afternoon, as the Chargers held off a late charge from Centenary (N.J.), and won, 69-63 at Horst Athletic Center. The Chargers are now 5-3 this season, while the Cyclones dropped to 1-8 overall.
Lancaster Bible led by as many as 17 midway through the first half, and led by double digits in the second half, but Centenary wouldn't go away, and trailed by four with under a minute to play, before the Chargers finally put them away.

Lancaster Bible continued to lead throughout the first half, and stretched its lead to 33-16 with 8:23 remaining, as freshman
Jordan Shewbridge connected for a layup. The double-digit lead remained for the rest of the opening half, as sophomore
Tyler Norris gave Lancaster Bible a 40-26 lead, before Chris LaBelle cut Centenary's deficit to 12 just before the half.

The Cyclones opened the second half on a 6-0 run, and cut the Chargers' lead to just six, but a 3-pointer from
Luke Beers restored the nine-point lead, and the Chargers extended the lead back to 15 after two free throws from Whitt with 11:04 remaining in regulation.

Centenary again began chipping away at Lancaster Bible's lead however, and trailed by just seven, 56-49, with 6:55 to play. After upping its lead back to double digits, the Chargers had trouble finishing the game off, and saw their advantage drop to four with 49 seconds to play. Centenary had chances to make it a one possession game, but couldn't convert free throws down the stretch, and the Chargers finally put the game away with four seconds to play, as Shewbridge hit one of two free throws.

By the Numbers: Lancaster Bible shot 45.6 percent (26-of-57) from the floor, including 33.3 percent (7-of-21) from 3-point range…Centenary shot 35.6 percent (21-of-59) from the field, but just 28.6 percent (6-of-21) from beyond the arc…Davis finished with a team-best 18 points on 9-of-15 shooting, and also added 14 rebounds, three assists, two blocks and two steals…Shewbridge added 17 points and six boards, while

The Coach Says: "Our guys played well today, but we need to learn how to handle end-of-game situations better," Lancaster Bible Head Coach
Andrew Wingreen said. "As a staff, we need to prepare our guys for those scenarios better so we can execute and close games out with more confidence. Overall, I thought we had some big games from a few guys, which was nice."

Information Hodge Podge: Lancaster Bible and Centenary are now tied in the all-time series at 1-1…This was the first game between the two schools since the 1995-96 season when the Cyclones defeated the Chargers, 133-91…Lancaster Bible is now 4-0 at home this season…The Chargers also upped their non-conference record to 2-3 this year…Lancaster Bible has shot 45 percent or better in three of its last four games, and in four of its five wins this season…Lancaster Bible's 15 offensive rebounds were the second-most in a game this season, trailing just the 24 offensive boards the Chargers had in a victory over Penn St. Berks on Nov. 28.
