The Lancaster Bible College men's basketball team saw its 11-game win streak come to an end on Wednesday night, as the Chargers fell 84-76 to Penn St. Abington in Abington, Pa. The Valentine's Day loss drops the Chargers to 19-5 overall this season and 14-1 in North Eastern Athletic Conference play, while the Nittany Lions improved to 10-12 overall and 8-7 in conference action.
1st Half Highlights:
-Penn St. Abington jumped out to an 11-5 lead four minutes into the contest, but senior Herbie Brown, who scored the first seven points of the game for the Chargers, converted a layup 4:53 into the game to cut Lancaster Bible's deficit to four
-Lancaster Bible eventually tied the game at 13-13 on a 3-pointer from sophomore Luke Beers, and then took a 15-13 advantage on a layup from senior Austin Brown, with 13:50 to play in the first
-The Nittany Lions regained the lead minutes later, and took a 26-21 lead after a three-point play from Jay Fitzgerald
-The teams traded baskets over the next few minutes, with Lancaster Bible cutting the Nittany Lions' lead to four, 34-30, on a layup from junior Alex Whitt with 4:16 to play
-Penn St. Abington owned the rest of the half, closing the final four minutes on a 12-2 run to build a 46-32 halftime advantage
2nd Half Highlights:
-Penn St. Abington took a 50-35 lead just 1:28 into the second half, but over the next four minutes, Lancaster Bible used a 14-2 run to climb back into the contest
-Herbie Brown and junior Quentin Davis combined for all 14 points, as Davis poured in 10 of the points
-The Nittany Lions rebuilt their lead to five, but Lancaster Bible finally tied the game at 61-61 on a layup from Herbie Brown with 9:02 remaining
-The teams went back-and-forth over the final 10 minutes, and Herbie Brown capped a run of nine straight points with a 3-pointer with 2:28 remaining that gave the Chargers a 76-75 lead
-Penn St. Abington's Devin Hill answered with a triple of his own 19 seconds later, and the Nittany Lions never trailed again
-Lancaster Bible tried to get back into the game using the 3-pointer, but missed the Chargers missed their final six shots from distance
By the Numbers: Lancaster Bible shot 29-of-76 (38.2 percent) from the floor, but just 6-of-29 (20.7 percent) from 3-point range...Penn St. Abington was 27-of-50 (54 percent) from the field, and 13-of-21 (61.9 percent) from 3-point range...Lancaster Bible forced 22 turnovers, but was out-rebounded 44-33...Herbie Brown had 29 points on 13-of-22 shooting to lead the Chargers...Davis added 15 points and six rebounds...Junior Christo Majok had six points, seven assists, six steals and five rebounds...Senior Bill Livezey chipped in with eight points, four rebounds and three assists...Whitt added five points and six boards as well for the Chargers...Hill had 23 points to pace the Nittany Lions.

Zach Filzen said. "They came out and punched us in the mouth and it took us way too long to respond."
On the second half and going forward: "I'm proud of how we responded and fought back in the second half, and we had chances to win, but just couldn't close it out," Filzen said. "We have to bounce back, get better and focus on Saturday. After talking with the guys after the game, I like their mindset. They want to get better, practice hard and take care of business on Saturday."
Information Hodge Podge: Lancaster Bible is now 10-6 all-time against Penn St. Abington...The Chargers defeated the Nittany Lions, 93-79 on Jan. 27 at Horst Athletic Center...Wednesday was the first road loss of the season for the Chargers...Lancaster Bible's other two losses away from Horst Athletic Center were neutral site contests...Herbie Brown's 29 points are the second-most he has scored in a game during his collegiate career.
