Chargers Swept on Day 3 in Florida

The Lancaster Bible College softball team continued its spring break trip in Florida on Tuesday, but lost twice, falling to 0-6 on the trip so far. The Chargers lost to Milligan, 20-0 in five innings, and then lost to Delaware Valley, 10-2 in six innings. Lancaster Bible is now 2-8 this season and has two games remaining in Florida before traveling back to Pennsylvania.

Milligan 20, Lancaster Bible 0 (5 innings)
Game Notes: Big Blue scored 14 times in the first inning, as Milligan pounded 11 hits and took advantage of seven Lancaster Bible errors...Milligan sent 17 batters to the plate in the inning...Milligan scored three more runs in the third, two in the fourth and one in the fifth...Lancaster Bible did not record a hit in the game, though freshman Kendra Brown drew a walk...Despite giving up 13 runs, freshman pitcher Nicole DeKok allowed just four earned runs, while sophomore Martina McCauley gave up three earned runs and struck out one.

By the Numbers: Big Blue had 21 hits, including four extra-base hits...The Chargers struck out five times...Chelsea Eads went 3-for-3 with three runs scored and an RBI for Milligan...This was the first-ever meeting between the two teams.

Delaware Valley 10, Lancaster Bible 2 (6 innings)
Game Notes: After the first three innings were scoreless, Lancaster Bible got on the board first as junior Morgan Burkholder singled and drove home sophomore Katie Kleinhans...Brown singled later in the inning and knocked in freshman Nicole DeKok to make it 2-0 in favor of Lancaster Bible...The Aggies responded with three runs in the bottom half of the fourth inning and tacked on four more in the fifth inning and then clinched the game in the sixth with three more runs.

By the Numbers: The Chargers finished with six hits, led by Burkholder's 2-for-3 day and an RBI...Junior Zoie Senn was 1-for-3, as were Kleinhans, DeKok and Brown...Senn and DeKok's hits were doubles, as the Chargers had two extra-base hits...DeKok pitched five innings, giving up five earned runs and striking out four...This was the first-ever meeting between the two teams.

Up Next: The Chargers will wrap-up their spring break trip on Wednesday with games against Stevenson (11:30 a.m.) and Albright (2 p.m.).
