The Lancaster Bible College softball team wrapped up its spring break trip in Clermont, Florida on Wednesday afternoon, falling to both Stevenson and Albright. The Chargers finished the trip with an 0-8 record and are now 2-10 this season. Lancaster Bible is back in action on Tuesday, Mar. 20 when the Chargers take on Cairn in Langhorne, Pa. at 3 p.m. and 5 p.m.
Stevenson 19, Lancaster Bible 0 (5 innings)
Game Notes: After a scoreless first inning, the Mustangs scored 14 times in the second inning, using 13 hits and three Lancaster Bible errors to open the game up...Junior Zoie Senn picked up the Chargers' first hit of the game in the bottom of the third, but was stranded on first...Stevenson scored three more times in the fourth inning and twice in the fifth...Freshman Nicole DeKok picked up Lancaster Bible's second and final hit in the bottom of the fourth.
By the Numbers: Stevenson had 21 hits, including four extra-base hits...Seven different players had multiple hits for the Mustangs...DeKok pitched five innings for the Chargers, and allowed just six earned runs thanks to five Lancaster Bible errors...DeKok also had two strikeouts...This was the first-ever meeting between the two teams.
Albright 7, Lancaster Bible 2
Game Notes: Albright scored once in the bottom of the first, but Lancaster Bible starter Martina McCauley kept the Lions off balance for the most part over the first three innings, allowing just three hits...The Chargers put the first two runners on in the top of the third, and had runners on second and third with one out, but couldn't tie the game...Lancaster Bible had two different runners reach base in the fourth inning as well, but again couldn't get the tying run across the plate...The Lions broke through in the bottom of the fourth, as they scored five runs on five hits and two Lancaster Bible errors...The Chargers got on the board in the top of the fifth, as junior Morgan Burkholder hit a two-run double that scored DeKok and Katie Kleinhans who had both singled earlier in the inning...The Lions tacked on another insurance run in the bottom of the sixth and though Zoie Senn singled in the top of the seventh, the Chargers couldn't start a late-inning rally.
By the Numbers: Lancaster Bible had six hits from five different players, as DeKok led the way going 2-for-4 with a run scored...Burkholder finished 1-for-2 with a walk and two RBI...Kleinhans, Senn and Bekah Roberts were each 1-for-3...Kendra Brown drew a walk as well for the Chargers...McCauley scattered nine hits over six innings and struck out two...Lancaster Bible is now 0-3 all-time against Albright.
