The Lancaster Bible College softball team returned to action after a 10-day layoff and dropped a pair of games to Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, Va. on Saturday. The Chargers lost game one, 11-0 in five innings, and dropped game two, 8-1, falling to 2-12 this season, while the Eagles improved to 11-11.

Game Notes: Mary Washington scored three times in the first inning, highlighted by Jessica Huber's two-run triple...The Eagles scored three more times in the second inning, and tacked on two more in the third, to open up an 8-0 lead...Mary Washington scored four more times in the fourth inning, before Lancaster Bible sophomore Rheeana Miles connected for the Chargers' lone hit in game one in the top of the fifth.
By the Numbers: In addition to Miles' hit, freshman Kendra Brown and junior Morgan Burkholder drew walks for the Chargers...Mary Washington had 10 hits, while the Chargers committed four errors...Freshman Nicole DeKok took the loss for the Chargers, though she struck out three and just five of the 11 runs were earned...Mary Washington pitcher Kara Deppe struck out 11, while allowing just the one hit.

Game Notes: The Eagles scored once in both the second and third innings, and then plated two more runs in the fifth to make it 4-0...After having chances to score in both the fourth and fifth innings, DeKok smashed her first collegiate home run in the sixth inning to get the Chargers on the board...The Eagles responded in the bottom half of the sixth however, scoring three runs and putting the game out of reach.
By the Numbers: Lancaster Bible posted three hits, while the Eagles had nine...In addition to DeKok's home run, she also added a single, while freshman Bekah Roberts had the only other Lancaster Bible hit...Sophomore Martina McCauley took the loss for the Chargers, though she struck out five batters and scattered nine hits.
Information Hodge Podge: Saturday was the first-ever matchup between the two schools...The Chargers committed just one error in game two, tying a season-low...The home run by DeKok was the first for the Chargers this season.
