The Lancaster Bible College men's volleyball team won its fifth straight match on Thursday night, defeating St. Elizabeth, 3-0 in Morristown, N.J. The Chargers won, 25-15, 25-13, 25-10, and improved to 15-4 overall this season and 4-0 in North Eastern Athletic Conference play. The Eagles dropped to 4-15 overall and 0-4 in conference action.
1st Set Highlights:
-The Eagles jumped out to a 7-4 lead in the opening set, but the Chargers rattled off six straight points and never trailed again
-Leading 17-12, the Chargers got an ace from sophomore Kole Horst, a block assist from sophomore Kaleb Ansell and Daniel Kreider, and a kill from Kreider, to take a commanding, 20-12 advantage
-Back-to-back aces from Ansell later in the set gave the Chargers a set point, and they clinched it a point later on a service error from the Eagles
2nd Set Highlights:
-Leading 7-6 in the second set, the Chargers won eight of nine points to grab a 15-7 advantage
-Horst had two aces during the run, while senior
Derek Bigley added two kills
-Lancaster Bible won eight of nine points to end the set as well, including the final five points, as freshman Kyran Flahive served out the set for the Chargers
3rd Set Highlights:
-The Chargers led 12-6 midway through the set, before senior Kasey Gentry served two aces and added a kill to give Lancaster Bible a 15-6 advantage
-Lancaster Bible won eight of nine points to clinch the match, as sophomore Cameron Conkle had a nice service effort down the stretch to help put the Eagles away
By the Numbers: Lancaster Bible connected for 35 kills, while St. Elizabeth had just 13...Lancaster Bible had a program-record 18 team aces...Bigley led the way with seven kills...Ansell added 19 assists and three aces...Gentry had six kills, two aces and two blocks...Horst and junior Nate Miller each had five kills and three aces, while Kreider also had five kills...Benjamin Herb had a kill and a block, while junior Kurt Maysilles had a team-best six digs.
