'Stangs Sprint Past Chargers

The Lancaster Bible College women's lacrosse team opened North Eastern Athletic Conference Play with a 20-5 loss to Morrisville State on Friday in Palmyra, Pa. The game, played at In the Net Sports Complex due to all of the snow Lancaster received this week, was the NEAC opener for both teams, as the Chargers dropped to 0-5 overall and 0-1 in NEAC play, while the Mustangs improved to 1-6 overall and 1-0 in conference action.

1st Half Highlights:
-Morrisville State scored four times in the first five minutes, as Courtney Cavellier had three of the Mustangs' four tallies
-The Mustangs would eventually lead, 6-0, before Lancaster Bible junior Raegan Horst got the Chargers on the board with her second goal of the season
-Senior Myranda Kemrer netted her eighth goal of the season four minutes after Horst scored to cut the Chargers' deficit to four, 6-2
-The four-goal deficit would be as close as Lancaster Bible would get however, as the Mustangs scored the final eight goals of the first half and led, 14-2 at the break

2nd Half Highlights:
-Morrisville State scored the first four goals of the second half as well, and led 18-2 with just under 20 minutes to play
-Kemrer scored her second goal of the game with 9:24 remaining to make it an 18-3 game
-Junior Hannah Thompson and sophomore Hope Privitera each scored in the final 5:18 of the contest to wrap-up the scoring for the Chargers

By the Numbers: Morrisville State outshot the Chargers, 30-17, including 25-15 in shots on goal...Lancaster Bible held an 18-17 advantage in ground balls, while the Mustangs had a 13-12 edge in draw controls...Horst finished with a goal and an assist for the Chargers, while Kemrer added her own two goals...Thompson led the Chargers with five ground balls and seven draw controls...Lancaster Bible goalie Nicolette Statuti made three saves in the loss...Gianna Branca had four goals and 12 assists for the Mustangs, while Cavellier had a game-high seven goals.

Information Hodge Podge: Lancaster Bible is now 0-7 all-time against Morrisville State...The Chargers have double-digit draw controls in each of their five games this season...The 20 goals given up by the Chargers are a season-high...Lancaster Bible's 16 turnovers were the second-fewest this season.
