The Lancaster Bible College women's lacrosse team lost it second straight game on Friday, falling to Keystone, 18-12 in La Plume, Pa. The Chargers fell to 1-7 this season, while the Giants improved to 2-4.
1st Half Highlights:
-The Giants scored the first five goals of the game, building a 5-0 lead in the opening 7:26 of the game
-Junior Raegan Horst scored at 22:12 to get the Chargers on the board, but Keystone scored five straight goals again, and took a 10-1 lead with 13:41 to play in the first half
-Horst and fellow junior Hannah Thompson scored back-to-back goals to bring the Chargers to within seven, 10-3 with 11:58 to play in the first
-After two straight Keystone goals, senior Myranda Kemrer scored with 43 seconds left in the half to make it a 12-4 game at halftime
2nd Half Highlights:
-The Chargers erupted for three straight goals in the opening 9:20 of the second half and closed the gap to 12-7
-Thompson, sophomore Emily Morgan and freshman Kaitlyn Myers scored for the Chargers, while Kemrer and Morgan picked up assists
-After a Keystone goal, Horst took a pass from Thompson and cut the Chargers' deficit to five, 13-8
-The Giants responded with two straight goals, but the Chargers would not go away, as Kemrer and Myers scored goals 3:32 apart to again bring Lancaster Bible to within five
-Kemrer and Horst scored 1:26 apart late in the half to cut the deficit to five once again, but Lancaster Bible ran out of time and Emily Hawkins goal with 1:21 to play iced the game for the Giants
By the Numbers: Keystone outshot the Chargers, 47-31, including 33-22 in shots on goal...Lancaster Bible held a 33-32 edge in ground balls...Keystone held a 21-11 advantage in ground balls...Horst finished with four goals and two assists, while Kemrer had three goals and two assists...Thompson had two goals and a team-best three assists...Morgan finished with a goal and an assist, while Myers had two goals...Goalie Nicolette Statuti made 15 saves in the loss...Hawkins had a team-high five goals for the Giants.
