The Lancaster Bible College softball team split a doubleheader with Cairn on Tuesday in Langhorne, Pa., as the Chargers dropped game one, 3-2, but rebounded to win game two, 10-2. The non-conference doubleheader split, one of the last non-conference twin bills for the Chargers this season, improves Lancaster Bible to 5-19 overall this season, while the Highlanders are now 12-12.

Cairn 3, Lancaster Bible 2 – Game 1
Game Notes:
-Lancaster Bible opened the scoring in game one, as Nicole DeKok singled home Marissa Senn to give the Chargers a 1-0 lead
-After DeKok moved up to second base, Morgan Burkholder singled DeKok home, give the Chargers a 2-0 lead in the top of the third
-Cairn responded in the bottom of the fourth, as the Highlanders scored three times on four hits, to take a 3-2 lead
-Lancaster Bible put two runners on in the fifth inning, another runner on in the sixth, and two more in the seventh, but couldn't tie the game and lost by one to the Highlanders

-For her second straight outing, DeKok pitched a terrific game, as she allowed just five hits in six innings, while striking out four and walking just one…Burkholder finished 2-for-3 with a walk and an RBI, while Katie Kleinhans was also 2-for-3…Bekah Roberts and DeKok also had a hit as well…Chargers' hitters struck out eight times and the team left nine runners on base.

Game Notes:
-Lancaster Bible again opened the scoring, as DeKok doubled home Zoie Senn in the top of the first
-Cairn tied the game at 1-1 in the bottom half of the first, but Lancaster Bible struck again in the third, scoring four runs…Kleinhans knocked in Senn and DeKok to give the Chargers a 3-1 advantage, and Kendra Brown hit a two-run single later in the inning that scored Kleinhans and Burkholder
-The Highlanders got a run back in the bottom of the third, but the Chargers poured it on in the top of the fourth with five runs…DeKok doubled again, scoring Rheeana Miles, while Kleinhans had an RBI groundout
-Zoie Senn put a cap on the game two win with a solo home run in the top of the seventh

Information Hodge Podge: Lancaster Bible is now 6-18 all-time against Cairn…The Chargers' bats stayed hot on Tuesday, and Lancaster Bible now has 54 hits in its past six games…Senn's home run was just the second of the season for Lancaster Bible…The Chargers' defense has also improved of late, as the team has committed just three errors in its past four games.
