Chargers Announce Plans for Turf Field Complex

Lancaster Bible College and the Lancaster Bible College Athletic Department are pleased to announce the first phase of a new turf field and stadium will break ground on Thursday, May 3, 2018 on the grounds of Lancaster Bible College.

The land design of the complex comes from Derck & Edson Associates in Lititz, Pa. and the facility will find its home where the current practice field is located for lacrosse and soccer. The first phase, scheduled for completion this fall, will feature a turf field, fence and lights. The next phases will be scheduled following the completion of the first phase, and will include locker room space, snack bar area and a press box, among other amenities.

The complex will be used for the men's and women's soccer teams, as well as the field hockey and women's lacrosse teams. In addition to use by the Athletic Department, the field will also be used for intramural activities and other events on campus, something Senior Vice President of Student Experience Josh Beers is very pleased with.

"The classroom of athletics continues to be a vital part of the Lancaster Bible College experience, and the addition of a turf field increases our ability to better serve all students and to enhance their overall experience at both the intercollegiate and intramural levels," Josh Beers said. "Every student on our campus will benefit from this improvement either as a fan or participant. This is a significant step first and foremost for our students, and additionally for our continued growth as a college."

Director of Athletics Pete Beers agreed, thanking the administration at Lancaster Bible College for its continued support and vision for the students at the college.

"I'm so thankful this administration has bought into the vision of the student-athlete experience, and frankly that of all students," Pete Beers said. "I believe this complex will have a large future impact on not only the students at Lancaster Bible College, but the local community as well."

Bringing it closer to the Lancaster Bible Athletic Department, Pete Beers was quick to point out that the field will now bring the Chargers to the standard of what a facility should look like on the NCAA Division III level.

"We have a nice grass surface field here on campus, and we will continue to use it for some practices and other events, but the turf field and this complex will help us continue to mature into what we see as the next tier of athletics at the Division III level," Beers said. "We will be able to have games and practices at night, and will really be able to serve all students here at Lancaster Bible."

The May 3 groundbreaking will be open to the public.
