Chargers Split Weekend Games in New York

The Lancaster Bible College women's lacrosse team split a weekend of games in upstate New York, as the Chargers lost to Medaille, 19-9 on Saturday afternoon, but rebounded to defeat Hilbert, 14-9 on Sunday in Eden, N.Y. The Chargers are now 2-10 overall and 2-4 in North Eastern Athletic Conference play.

Game Notes:

-Medaille scored the first four goals of the game, but Lancaster Bible cut its deficit in half with back-to-back goals from junior Raegan Horst over a 12-second span
-Medaille increased its lead back to four, 6-2 with 11:39 to play, but Horst completed the hat trick with 11:04 remaining in the half to bring the Chargers to within, 6-3
-The Mavericks scored the final three goals of the half, as they took a 9-3 lead into halftime with three goals in the final 2:34 of the opening frame
-Horst netted her fourth of the game two minutes into the second half, but the Mavericks scored three straight goals to grab a 12-4 advantage
-Sophomores Emily Morgan and Kaylee Boger scored for the Chargers around a goal from the Mavericks, and Horst's fifth of the day made it a 13-7 Medaille lead with 15:31 to play
-The Chargers would not get any closer however, as Medaille scored six of the final eight goals of the game, en route to a 10-goal win
 
By the Numbers:
-Medaille outshot the Chargers, 47-23, including 34-15 in shots on goal…Medaille held a 60-35 advantage in ground balls, but the Chargers had a 20-9 edge in draw controls…Horst finished with a game-high six goals, while Morgan, Boger and senior Myranda Kemrer each had a goal as well...Junior Hannah Thompson had an assist and a team-high 12 draw controls, and nine ground balls.
 
Information Hodge Podge:
-Lancaster Bible is now 0-8 all-time against Medaille…Horst's six goals were the second-most in a single game in her career.

Game Notes:
-Hilbert opened the scoring, before Boger tied the game at 1-1 with 21:39 remaining in the first half
-The Hawks scored the next three goals to lead, 4-1, but the Chargers cut their deficit to one, 4-3 after back-to-back goals from Morgan and Horst
-The Hawks scored the final goal of the half with 3:04 remaining, and took a 5-3 lead into halftime
-Lancaster Bible roared out of the gate in the second half, scoring three goals in a 5:35 span to take a 6-5 lead…Thompson, Horst and Kemrer all scored during the run that gave the Chargers a one-goal lead
-Hilbert re-took the lead three minutes later, but Horst tied the game with the Chargers up a player with 18:40 to play
-Thompson gave Lancaster Bible the lead for good with 16:11 remaining, as she took a pass from Kemrer and made it an 8-7 game
-The Chargers would end up scoring eight straight goals, four of which game off the stick of Kemrer
 
By the Numbers:
-Lancaster Bible held a 39-32 advantage in shots, including a 26-23 edge in shots on goal…Hilbert had 31 ground balls, while the Chargers had 27…Lancaster Bible had a 17-8 advantage in draw controls…Kemrer finished with five goals and four assists, and also led the team with 10 draw controls…Horst finished with three goals and three assists, while Thompson had four goals and an assist, along with a team-best nine ground balls….Boger finished with a goal and an assist.
 
Information Hodge Podge: Lancaster Bible is now 2-0 against Hilbert…The game location was moved to Eden, N.Y. due to snow and ice in upstate New York, thus the Chargers are now 1-0 in neutral site contests this season…Lancaster Bible's nine assists were the second-most in a single game this season.
