Chargers Swept by Wildcats on Senior Day

The Lancaster Bible College baseball team saw its four-game win streak come to an end on Saturday, as the Chargers dropped both games of a doubleheader to Penn College at Charger Field on Senior Day. Lancaster Bible lost game one, 6-2, then watched the Wildcats' offense explode for 22 runs in a 22-7 game two victory. The Chargers are now 14-11 overall and 4-5 in North Eastern Athletic Conference play, while the Wildcats improved to 13-10 overall and 7-1 in NEAC action.

Game Notes:
-Penn College took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first, but Lancaster Bible took a lead of its own in the bottom half of the inning, as sophomore Matt Taylor hit a two-run single that scored senior Braden Elliott and sophomore Sam Taylor
-The lead lasted until the third when the Wildcats tied it on Britton Kittle's second RBI single of the game, and Penn College took the lead a few batters later when Colton Riley hit a two-run home run to left-center field
-Kittle's sacrifice fly in the fourth made it 5-2 in favor of the Wildcats, and Ben Flicker's solo home run in the sixth put a bow on the victory, as Nathan Holt pitched a complete game for Penn College
 
Inside the Box Score:
-The Chargers had just three hits in game one, as junior Colin Myers, Elliott and Taylor each had a hit...Each team left eight runners on base in game one…Kittle finished 3-for-3 with three RBI…Lancaster Bible starter, senior Zack Leonard, pitched 5 2/3 innings, allowing six runs, while striking out seven…Holt went the distance, allowing just two runs and three hits, though he walked six and struck out two.

Game Notes:
-Riley hit his second home run of the day to open the scoring in the top of the second of game two
-Like game one however, the Chargers answered, and took a 2-1 lead on defensive miscue by the Wildcats…Myers hit a ball that was misplayed at first base, allowing Jacob Schenck and Nate McFarland to score
-After Penn College tied the game in the top of the third, Lancaster Bible re-took the lead, 3-2 in the bottom of the inning on sophomore Beau Heagy's sacrifice fly that scored Josh Mayer
-The score remained the same until the top of the fifth, when Ben Flicker hit a two-run home run that gave the Wildcats a 4-3 lead
-Riley hit his second home run of the game and third of the day later in the inning to make it a 5-3 lead, and the Wildcats never looked back
-Penn College would score 17 runs over the final four innings, including seven in the ninth inning…Riley homered again in the eighth for his third home run of the game, and fourth of the day
 
Inside the Box Score:
-Lancaster Bible had 11 hits in game two, while the Wildcats had 18…McFarland was a team-best 4-for-5 with two runs and an RBI in game two for Lancaster Bible, while Mayer was 2-for-5 with two runs…Nate Buonomo added a hit and two RBI in game two, while CJ Halloran was 1-for-1...Flicker finished 4-for-6 with five RBI, while Nick Perna was 1-for-1 with four RBI, as he slugged a grand slam in the ninth inning.
 
Information Hodge Podge: Lancaster Bible is now 3-6 all-time against Penn College…The Chargers are now 5-6 at home this season…Junior Will Welsh saw his 19-game hit streak come to an end in game one…The three hits in game one tie a season-low for Lancaster Bible.
