Chargers Trap Wolves, Clinch Top Spot in NEAC

The Lancaster Bible College men's volleyball team extended its winning streak to 10 matches on Friday night with a 3-0 victory over Keuka, but more importantly, the victory clinches the North Eastern Athletic Conference Regular Season title for the Chargers, who will now host the NEAC Final Four next weekend, April 14-15. Lancaster Bible is now 20-4 overall and 7-0 in NEAC play, while the Wolves dropped to 6-15 overall and 2-5 in conference action, as the Chargers won on Friday night, 25-10, 25-14, 25-18.

1st Set Highlights:
-Lancaster Bible jumped out to an early 7-3 lead, capped by an ace from junior Nate Miller
-After a point from Keuka, the Chargers won four of five points, as junior Daniel Kreider and sophomore Kole Horst had back-to-back kills
-Later in the set, Lancaster Bible rattled off nine of ten points, using all faucets of the game to earn points, including an ace from senior Kasey Gentry, blocks from senior Sky Woelkers and Miller, as well as a kill from Miller
-The Chargers won the set, 25-10, thanks to a Keuka error
 
2nd Set Highlights:
-The teams exchanged points early in the second set, but the Chargers eventually won four of five points, and grabbed an 8-5 lead on a service error by the Wolves
-Midway through the set, the Chargers won five straight points, as Gentry and Miller had kills during the run, while Horst and Woelkers teamed up for a block
-After a Keuka kill, Lancaster Bible won another five points, getting an ace from Woelkers, and a kill from Kreider
-Freshman Kyran Flahive finished off the set for the Chargers with a big kill, giving Lancaster Bible the 25-14 victory
 
3rd Set Highlights:
-Lancaster Bible won eight of the first nine points of the third set, as Gentry served the Chargers to an early advantage
-Gentry had two aces during the run, while Miller had two kills
-Miller smashed another kill midway through the set to give the Chargers a 14-6 lead
-A kill from Horst, after four straight points from Keuka, gave Lancaster Bible the set, 25-18, and the match, 3-0

By the Numbers: Lancaster Bible had 25 kills, and just seven errors on 51 attempts for a 35.3 hitting percentage, while the Wolves had 22 kills and 19 errors on 63 attempts for a 4.8 hitting percentage...Lancaster Bible had 19 digs, while Keuka had 16, and Lancaster Bible held a 6-3 edge in blocks, and a 9-2 advantage in service aces...Miller led the Chargers with 10 kills, and also added two aces and two blocks...Horst had five kills, five digs, four blocks and two aces...Kreider had five kills as well, while Gentry had three kills, three aces and five digs...Sophomore Kaleb Ansell had 19 assists...JP Nery led the Wolves with five kills.

Information Hodge Podge: Lancaster Bible is now 6-6 all-time against Keuka...The Chargers also hosted the 2013 NEAC Playoffs, though at that time, men's volleyball did not have an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament, and just three teams made the playoffs, as the Chargers lost to Keuka, 3-1 in the NEAC Final...Lancaster Bible has won 14 of 15 matches, with 11 of the victories coming in three sets.

Up Next: Lancaster Bible will host Medaille on Saturday at 1 p.m., as the Chargers and Mavericks close out their regular seasons...The Chargers will honor their three seniors, Gentry, Woelkers, and Derek Bigley, prior to the match.
