Game Recap: Women's Soccer | | Zach Freeman

Chargers Shut Out Again

The Lancaster Bible College women's soccer team's tough start to the 2018 season continued on Wednesday in Middletown, Pa., as the Chargers were shutout for the third straight game, falling to Penn St. Harrisburg, 3-0 in non-conference action. The Chargers are now 0-3 this season, while the Nittany Lions improved to 2-3.

Game Recap: Each team recorded a shot in the opening 10 minutes of the game, but Penn St. Harrisburg began to take control of the half over the next 10 minutes, as the Nittany Lions had four shots and two corner kick opportunities. Lancaster Bible's Kayla Hubbard took her second shot of the game at 19:53 to break up the Nittany Lions' streak, but the Chargers managed just one more shot the rest of the half, though they did keep the Nittany Lions off the scoreboard, and head to halftime knotted at 0-0.

Penn St. Harrisburg got on the board just 3:50 into the second half, as Madison Hemler scored to give the home team a 1-0 advantage. Just under 12 minutes later, Romina Dichio doubled the Nittany Lions' lead to 2-0, as she scored off a pass from Danielle Bressler.

Lancaster Bible had a few chances to cut the deficit in half, but Penn St. Harrisburg put the contest away at 79:34, as Eden Haldeman scored her first goal of the season to make it 3-0.

The Coach Says: "I thought we played OK in the first half, but just couldn't get anything going in the second half, and they made us pay for some of sloppy play," Lancaster Bible Head Coach Ally Brown said. "The upperclassmen came to me after the game and said they would completely understand if Thursday's practice involved lots of running and correcting mistakes - and they're probably going to be proven correct. We have to fix some of our breakdowns, and have to get better chances to score."
