The Lancaster Bible College men's soccer team ran its unbeaten streak to four on Wednesday night, as the Chargers and Juniata played to a scoreless tie in Huntingdon, Pa. Lancaster Bible is now 3-1-1 overall this season, while the Eagles are 3-3-1.
Game Recap: Lancaster Bible had the first eight shots of the game, and Juniata goalkeeper Andrew Yeich made three early saves before picking up a red card at 11:46. Yeich came running out of his net out of the box, and the ball hit his hand, drawing a red card, as the Eagles were forced to play a man-down the rest of the way.
The Chargers continued to have chances the rest of the first half, including two late shots and a corner kick, but could not convert and went to the half knotted at 0-0.
Lancaster Bible peppered the Juniata goal with more shots early in the second half, as the Chargers had seven shots and a corner kick opportunity in the first 12 minutes of the second frame, but again came up empty. The Eagles countered with a few opportunities, but it was the Chargers who continually had chances to score, including
Chad Tolson's shot that was saved with under three minutes to play in the half.
Neither team could muster a scoring chance in the first overtime, but the Chargers managed three shots and a corner kick in the second overtime, but again, could not find the game-winner and drew a tie with the host Eagles.
By the Numbers: Lancaster Bible held a 25-15 advantage in shots, including a 9-6 edge in shots on goal...The Chargers also had five corner kicks, while the Eagles had just two...Sophomore
Rama Mugisha led the Chargers with five shots, while
Joel Hughes,
Kedric Yoder and Tolson each had four shots...
Estiven Saldarriaga added two shots, as did

Jake Deterline made six saves over the 110 minutes.
The Coach Says: "Tonight was a physical test, and even more so, a test of both teams' mental drive to win," Lancaster Bible Head Coach
Tom Ardt said. "We adjusted some at halftime, and settled down, but as they dropped off to defend, we had trouble breaking them down. I'm proud of how we defended set pieces, and the overall effort that we displayed, but we have some work to do with our movement and creativity in the midfield."
Information Hodge Podge: Lancaster Bible is now 1-3-1 all-time against Juniata...The Chargers defeated the Eagles, 3-1 in Lancaster last season...Wednesday marked the third straight game the Chargers have had 24 or more shots in a game...Lancaster Bible played a scoreless tie almost one year ago to the day, as the Chargers tied Gwynedd Mercy, 0-0 on Sept. 18, 2017.
