Wolves Slip Past Chargers

The Lancaster Bible College men's soccer team dropped its second straight 1-0 game on Wednesday night, as the Chargers lost to Alvernia in Reading, Pa. The loss drops the Chargers to 3-3-1 this season, while the Wolves improved to 4-5-2.

Game Recap: Both teams had offensive chances in the opening minutes, but it was Alvernia that converted one of its early chances, as the Wolves' Adam Orndorff scored off a rebound from a corner kick opportunity.
 
After an early shot by the Chargers, they would go close to 40 minutes until their next one, as Kedric Yoder's shot was blocked at the 41:49 mark.
 
Lancaster Bible goalkeeper Jake Deterline made two saves in the first 15 minutes of the second half to keep the Chargers' deficit at 1-0, as he once again played well for the Chargers.
 
Despite holding the Wolves at bay for much of the second half, Lancaster Bible produced little offense, as Rama Mugisha took the lone shot of the second half for the Chargers.

By the Numbers: Alvernia outshot Lancaster Bible, 7-2, including 5-0 in shots on goal...Deterline finished with four saves for the Chargers...The Wolves also held a 5-2 edge in corner kick opportunities.

The Coach Says: "We've been struggling to create chances and saw that again today," Lancaster Bible Head Coach Tom Ardt said. "Our midfield play was pretty strong at times, but we need to connect with our attackers better, and with more variety. A lot of guys who played a lot stepped up and competed well, and we are excited to hit a tough stretch of conference games."

Information Hodge Podge: Lancaster Bible is now 0-2 all-time against Alvernia...These teams last played in 2010, as Alvernia won, 2-1 in Reading, Pa...The Chargers have now been held scoreless in their past three games, and are 0-2-1 in those three games...Lancaster Bible is 2-2-1 away from home...Wednesday's game was delayed 90 minutes due to storms rolling through Central Pennsylvania.

Up Next: Lancaster Bible returns to North Eastern Athletic Conference play on Saturday, as the Chargers host Keuka at 2 p.m. as part of Homecoming Weekend at Lancaster Bible College.
