The Lancaster Bible College men's basketball team suffered its first North Eastern Athletic Conference loss of the season on Saturday, falling to SUNY Cobleskill, 85-69 at Horst Athletic Center. The Chargers dropped to 7-6 overall and 4-1 in conference play with the loss, while the Fighting Tigers improved to 8-6 overall and 3-2 in NEAC action.

How it Happened: Lancaster Bible opened the game on a 7-0 run, as the Beers Brothers (Isaac & Luke) knocked down 3-pointers around a free throw from
Quentin Davis.
Jordan Shewbridge hit another 3-pointer moments later, and a dunk from Davis at 12:23 gave Lancaster Bible a 15-7 lead.

The Chargers led 20-10 midway through the first half, but SUNY Cobleskill began to not only chip away at the lead, but took a lead of its own at 23-22 after a 3-pointer from JayQuan Robinson. Lancaster Bible re-took the lead, and led 28-25 after a layup from Shewbridge, but the Tigers scored the final eight points of the half, and led 33-28 at the break.

SUNY Cobleskill kept pushing the action early in the second half, and led 47-30 just 3:25 into the second frame, completing a 22-2 run over five minutes of game action. Lancaster Bible would eventually trail by as many as 22 with 11:52 to play before slowly trying to chip away at the deficit.

Using 10 players, some on offense, some on defense, the Chargers embarked on the long journey to try and get back into the game, and while they didn't come all the way back, they did cut the deficit to 11 at 78-67 with 1:41 to play before SUNY Cobleskill knocked down free throws and got two stops to effectively end the game.

By the Numbers: The Chargers shot 32.4 percent (24-of-74) from the field, but just 7-of-31 from 3-point range…The Chargers were 14-of-17 from the free throw line…The Fighting Tigers shot 53.1 percent (26-of-49) from the floor, and 10-of-21 from beyond the arc…SUNY Cobleskill was 23-of-39 from the free throw line, and shot 60.9 percent from the field in the second half…Davis had 14 points, 11 rebounds and four steals for the Chargers, while
Luke Beers had 14 points and four assists…
Britton Beachy was the other player in double figures with 11 points, and also added three assists…
Tyler Hilton stepped up with seven points and three boards as well…Dashwon Nelson had a game-high 31 points on 10-of-15 shooting, and also added 10 rebounds.

The Coach Says: "The last five minutes of the first half, and the first five minutes of the second half killed us," Lancaster Bible Head Coach
Andrew Wingreen said. "I thought we fought back well at the end of the game, but just didn't hit enough shots. We executed well at points of the game, but just not enough to get the job done. Hopefully we can bounce back tomorrow, and get a conference win."

Information Hodge Podge: Lancaster Bible is now 7-2 all-time against SUNY Cobleskill, with the only other loss coming in the 2015 NEAC Final…The Chargers are now 4-2 at home this season…Saturday marked the fifth time this season the Chargers have shot below 40 percent from the floor…The 82.4 percent mark from the free throw line was a season high for Lancaster Bible…The 28 fouls committed were also a season-high for the Chargers.
