Lancaster Bible Blanks Wells, 2-0

The Lancaster Bible College women's soccer team continued its streak of winning a game and losing a game on Saturday, as the Chargers defeated Wells, XX-XX in Aurora, N.Y. The Chargers improved to 7-6 overall this season, and 3-3 in North Eastern Athletic Conference play, while the Express dropped to 0-9 overall and 0-6 in conference action.
 
How it Happened: Each team recorded a shot on goal, and each team had a goalkeeper make a save in the opening 10 minutes, but from there, it was all Lancaster Bible, as the Chargers pummeled the Express end of the field. The Chargers posted another five shots and a had a corner kick try before the 21-minute mark.
 
At 22:16 however, Sarah Kumher gave the Chargers a 1-0 lead with her first goal of the season, as she beat Wells goalkeeper Jennifer McCumber. The Chargers continued to have chance after chance in the first half, but couldn't put another ball over the goal line, and the visitors took a 1-0 lead into the break.
 
The second half looked a lot like the first half, as the Chargers had five shots and a corner kick try in the first 10 minutes of the second frame. Lancaster Bible doubled its lead to 2-0 at 58:16, as Bryanna Hoover scored for the Chargers.
 
Lydia Heyworth had two late shots that were saved by the Wells defense, and Caroline Majeski added a shot as well, but the Chargers couldn't score again, and won, 2-0.
 
Statistically Speaking: Lancaster Bible outshot the Express, 25-1, including 19-1 in shots on goal...The Chargers also led in corner kicks, 5-1..McCumber made 16 saves for the Express in the loss…Both Erin Mikula and Rheeana Miles played in goal for the Chargers, as Miles made the lone Lancaster Bible save of the day…Samantha Koons had a team-high four shots for the Chargers.
 
News & Notes: Lancaster Bible is now 9-0 all-time against Wells…The Chargers defeated Wells, 4-0 last season in Lancaster…The Chargers are 4-3 on the road this season, and have won three of their past four road contests…The shutout was the sixth of the season for the Chargers, and second in their last three games…Kumher's goal was the first of her collegiate career.
 
Up Next: Lancaster Bible is right back in action on Sunday, as the Chargers take on Keuka at 3 p.m. in Keuka Park, N.Y.
