Game Recap: Women's Soccer | | Zach Freeman

Wolves Run Past Chargers

The Lancaster Bible College women's soccer team split its weekend games in upstate New York, as the Chargers lost to Keuka, 5-0 on Sunday afternoon in Keuka Park, N.Y. The Chargers, who defeated Wells, 2-0 on Saturday, are now 7-7 overall this season, and 3-4 in North Eastern Athletic Conference play. Keuka, one of the top teams in the NEAC, improved to 9-3 overall and 7-0 in conference action with the victory.

How it Happened: The Wolves got on the board in the seventh minute, as Cassidy Walsh scored off a rebound, and made it 1-0 in favor of the home team. Just 1:07 later, Julia Oglesby picked up a loose ball at the top of the box and scored into the left side of the net for her fifth goal of the season, and doubled Keuka's lead.

Keuka's Emily McGuigan made it 3-0 at the 25:27 mark as she scored from the left side of the box over top of Lancaster Bible goalkeeper Erin Mikula.

The Wolves maintained their 3-0 lead through halftime, but the Chargers began to control more of the play in the second half. Lancaster Bible had two early chances in the second half, including Julia Hultstrand's shot that was saved at the last moment by Keuka goalkeeper Jessica Pegg in the 49th minute.

Keuka extended its lead at 63:45, as Oglesby scored again, this time off a pass from Lydia Hall. The Wolves capped the scoring and put the game away at 80:17, as Fallon Morris scored her third goal of the season.

Statistically Speaking: Keuka outshot the Chargers, 25-6, including 18-1 in shots on goal…The Wolves also held a 7-2 edge in corner kicks…Mikula made 13 saves for the Chargers…Samantha Koons led the Chargers with two shots.

The Coach Says: "We have a young team and I'm hoping we learn a lot from today," Lancaster Bible Head Coach Ally Long said. "We have to learn how to bounce back from setbacks and how to control the pace of play. Keuka is very talented, but we allowed an early goal to deflate us, and allowed the other team to dictate play. The girls work really hard, and we just need to harness that into work smarter together."

News & Notes: Lancaster Bible is now 6-3 all-time against Keuka…The Chargers lost to the Wolves, 3-0 last season in Lancaster on Homecoming…Lancaster Bible is 4-4 on the road this season…Sunday marks the end of a four-game road swing for the Chargers, and they went 2-2 in those contests.

Up Next: Lancaster Bible returns to action next Saturday, as the Chargers host SUNY Cobleskill on Oct. 19 at 3:15 p.m.
