Wolves Bite Chargers in OT

The Lancaster Bible College men's soccer team had its six-game unbeaten streak snapped on Sunday afternoon in Keuka Park, N.Y., as the Chargers lost in overtime to Keuka, 2-1. Lancaster Bible is now 9-3-1 overall this season and 4-2-1 in North Eastern Athletic Conference action, while the Wolves improved to 4-8-1 overall and 3-4 in conference play.

How it Happened: Each team had early offensive chances on Sunday, but Keuka goalkeeper Ryan Velte made three saves, while Lancaster Bible goalkeeper Jake Deterline made one. Lancaster Bible opened the scoring at 26:43, as Rusty Risteen hammered a shot that was deflected and went inside the right post to make it 1-0 in favor of the Chargers.

Neither team could do much on the offensive side of the field over the final 20 minutes of the first half, and the Chargers held a 1-0 lead after 45 minutes of play.

Lancaster Bible had a shot and two corner kick tries over the first eight minutes of the second half, but couldn't extend its lead. The Chargers continued to hold the 1-0 edge throughout the second half, but for the second straight game, Lancaster Bible gave up a late lead, as Suleman Sey scored off a feed from Claude Tuyishimire with 1:58 remaining.

The Chargers headed to overtime for the second straight day, as did the Wolves who lost to Gallaudet on Saturday in the 97th minute. Sunday proved different for both teams however, as the Chargers could not find the overtime magic two days in a row, and Jordan Miller scored off a pass from Sey 2:34 into the first overtime to give the Wolves the win.

Statistically Speaking: Keuka outshot the Chargers, 8-6, though each team had five shots on goal…Lancaster Bible held a 7-4 advantage in corner kick opportunities…Deterline finished with three saves for the Chargers…Risteen's goal was his second of the season.
