The Lancaster Bible College men's soccer team ran its unbeaten streak to five on Tuesday night, as the Chargers defeated Clarks Summit, 4-0 at the Donald H. Funk Field. Lancaster Bible is 4-0-1 in its past five games, and is now 8-2-1 overall this season, while the Defenders dropped to 3-8-1 overall.
Â
How it Happened: Lancaster Bible controlled possession from the opening whistle, and after two shots failed to reach the goal in the opening five minutes,
Kedric Yoder broke free down the middle of the field, and took a pass from
Chad Tolson, and scored on a breakaway to give the Chargers a 1-0 lead at the 6:32 mark.
Dan Bewersdorff also assisted on the goal, as the Chargers scored in the opening 10 minutes of a game for the fourth time this season.
Â
Yoder returned the favor to Bewersdorff just under eight minutes later, as Yoder fired a corner kick try across the backside of the box, and found Bewersdorff, who headed the ball into the back of the net for a 2-0 Lancaster Bible advantage.
Â
The Chargers continued to control the pace of the game for the rest of the half, but couldn't convert any other chances, and led by two at halftime.
Â
Clarks Summit came out aggressive in the opening 10 minutes of the second half, but Lancaster Bible withstood the pressure, and 9:45 into the second frame, Tolson got free on the left side of the box and drilled a great shot into the right-hand side of the net for a 3-0 lead.
Â
Lancaster Bible put the finishing touches on the victory at 75:05, as
Eric Bailey put a long pass to the foot of
Trey Baughman who worked into the box, and crossed the ball to
Rama Mugisha, who tipped the ball into an open net.
