Game Recap: Women's Soccer | | Zach Freeman

Early Goal Sends Mustangs Past Chargers

The Lancaster Bible College women's soccer team lost its second straight game on Friday, falling to Morrisville State, 1-0 at the Donald H. Funk Field. The Chargers are now 8-9 overall and 4-6 in North Eastern Athletic Conference play, while the Mustangs improved to 5-11 overall and 3-7 in NEAC action. Despite the loss, Lancaster Bible controls its own destiny to the NEAC Playoffs, as the Chargers need to defeat Cazenovia on Saturday, and Lancaster Bible is in.

How it Happened: The teams split the early possession on Friday, but Morrisville State caught a break in the seventh minute, as a crossing pass in the Lancaster Bible box caught the arm of defender Julianne Miller, and gave the Mustangs a penalty kick.

Morrisville State freshman Hailey Moriarty stepped up and drilled a shot into the lower left-hand corner to convert the penalty kick, and give the Mustangs a 1-0 lead.

The Chargers held possession of the ball for much of the rest of the first half, but couldn't convert any chances, and trailed, 1-0 at halftime.

Lancaster Bible posted eight shots in the second half, but none could get past Morrisville State goalkeeper Meaghan Miller, and the Chargers dropped their second straight contest.
