Game Recap: Men's Basketball | | Zach Freeman

Return to the Win Column

The Lancaster Bible College men's basketball team got back into the win column on Sunday, as the Chargers downed Keuka, 80-63 in Keuka Park, N.Y. Lancaster Bible shot well all day long, and improved to 14-9 overall, and 11-3 in North Eastern Athletic Conference play, while the Wolves dropped to 9-12 overall and 6-8 in NEAC action.

How it Happened: Lancaster Bible led 5-4 in the early going, but used a 13-2 run to build an 18-6 lead just 5:34 into the contest. Benny Raymond, Luke Beers and Jordan Shewbridge hit back-to-back-to-back 3-pointers over the course of 57 seconds to cap the scoring run.

Keuka worked its way back into the contest, and trailed just 19-14 with 12:07 remaining in the half, but Beers hit another 3-pointer to extend the lead back to eight, 22-14. The Wolves cut their deficit to four shortly after, but a layup from Quentin Davis and another 3-pointer from Raymond gave Lancaster Bible a 27-18 advantage with 8:28 to play.

Lancaster Bible maintained its lead for a couple of minutes, and then extended it again thanks to Alex Whitt and Tyler Norris who combined for eight straight points, as the Chargers took a 39-21 lead on Whitt's jumper with 3:14 left in the half. A thunderous dunk from Davis moved the lead to 20, but Keuka ended the half on a 10-0 run, and the Chargers led just 41-31 at the break.

The Wolves scored the first bucket of the second half, but Lancaster Bible went on a 10-0 run immediately afterwards, and led 51-33 after a 3-pointer from Shewbridge with 15:03 remaining. The Chargers' lead remained near 20 for much of the second half, but the Wolves made one more run, and cut the Lancaster Bible lead to 65-54 with 3:37 to play. Whitt converted a layup the next time down the floor for the Chargers, and Beers added another layup quickly after, and put the Wolves away for good.
