Eagles Soar Past Chargers

The Lancaster Bible College women's lacrosse team lost its third straight game to begin the season on Wednesday, as the Chargers fell to Juniata, 13-8 in Huntingdon, Pa. The Chargers are now 0-3 overall this season, while the Eagles improved to 2-0.
 
How it Happened: For the second straight game, Lancaster Bible got on the board first, as senior Raegan Horst scored 6:35 into the contest to give the Chargers a 1-0 lead. Juniata answered just over two minutes later, and tied the game at 1-1, but senior Hannah Thompson restored the Chargers' lead five seconds later, and Lancaster Bible led 2-1 after nine minutes of play.
 
The Eagles scored the next three goals of the game to grab a 4-2 advantage, but Thompson's second goal of the game with the Chargers a player up, cut Lancaster Bible's deficit to one, 4-3 with 4:11 remaining in the first half. Juniata scored three straight goals in under three minutes as the half came to a close to take a 7-3 lead, though another goal from Thompson, this one with 30 seconds left in the half, sent the Chargers to halftime trailing, 7-4.
 
Thompson opened the second half with yet another goal, as she scored with Lancaster Bible up a player, and cut the Chargers' deficit to two, 7-5. The teams exchanged goals over the next minute, as Kaylee Boger netted a goal for the Chargers, but with the Eagles ahead, 8-6, they scored the next four goals of the game over a 15-minute span, and led 12-6 with less than 11 minutes to play.
 
Back-to-back goals from Horst and Emily Morgan brought the Chargers to within, 12-8 with seven minutes to play, but Lancaster Bible could not get any closer, and Arielle Danchenko's goal with 2:43 remaining clinched the game for Juniata.
 
By the Numbers: Juniata outshot the Chargers, 30-19, and held a 23-10 edge in shots on goal…Lancaster Bible was just 8-of-25 on clearing attempts, while the Eagles were 14-of-21…The Eagles also led in ground balls, 28-20, though the Chargers held a commanding 18-5 edge in draw controls…Thompson finished with four goals, while Boger had a goal and an assist…Horst had two goals, while Hope Privitera added an assist as well…Becca Lucente made 10 saves in the loss for Lancaster Bible…Andrea Insalaco led Juniata with four goals.
 
Information Hodge Podge: This was the first-ever meeting between the two teams…The Chargers are being outscored, 21-11 in the first half of games, and 19-11 in the second half of contests…Lancaster Bible already has 45 draw controls this season…The Chargers have collected eight assists on 22 goals this season.
