Lancaster Bible Earns First Win of the Season

The Lancaster Bible College softball team won its first game of the 2019 season on Tuesday, as the Chargers defeated Clarks Summit, 12-4 in five innings, after losing to Lycoming, 7-1 earlier in the day. Lancaster Bible is now 1-3 overall this season.
 
Game 1

Game Notes:
-The Warriors jumped on the Chargers in game one, as Lycoming scored four runs in the top of the first
-Lycoming had five hits in the first, and also took advantage of two Lancaster Bible errors
-Lycoming tacked on a run in both the third and fourth innings, and led 6-0 before Lancaster Bible had recorded a hit
-Nicole DeKok finally got the first hit for the Chargers in the bottom of the fourth, and Lancaster Bible scored its lone run of the game in the bottom of the sixth, as DeKok grounded out, and knocked in Rheeana Miles who had reached on a fielder's choice earlier in the inning
-Lycoming scored one more run in the seventh, as the Warriors earned the 7-1 victory
-This was the first-ever game between the two teams
 
Inside the Box Score:
-Lancaster Bible had four hits, as Zoie Senn, Kendra Brown, Martina McCauley, and DeKok collected hits
-Martina McCauley pitched three innings for the Chargers, while Tracy Hatton pitched the final four innings…Hatton scattered five hits, and struck out one

Game Notes:
-Clarks Summit scored in the top half of the first inning, but Lancaster Bible came right back in its half of the inning, as Kendra Brown highlighted the three-run inning with a two run single that scored Morgan Burkholder and Zoie Senn
-The Chargers kept the offense going in the second inning, as Marissa Senn opened the frame with a double, and then scored on a single from Rheeana Miles
-Burkholder tripled later in the inning and scored DeKok who had singled home Zoie Senn
-After Clarks Summit got two runs back in the third inning, Lancaster Bible scored twice in the fourth inning, as Bryanna Hoover singled home Brown
-The Chargers closed the game out in the bottom of the fifth, as Zoie Senn singled home Alyssa Groff, and Burkholder singled Senn home later in the inning to give Lancaster Bible the 8-run victory
 
Inside the Box Score:
-Zoie Senn, DeKok, and Burkholder each had three hits, as Burkholder added three RBI, and scored two runs
-Senn scored three runs, while driving in two runs, and DeKok had two runs scored and an RBI
-Miles scored twice, while Marissa Senn was 2-for-3 with a run scored
-Hoover was 1-for-3 with an RBI, while Brown was 1-for-3 with two RBI and a run scored
-DeKok pitched a complete game, as she allowed just three hits, while striking out two
 
Information Hodge Podge: Lancaster Bible is now 7-5 all-time against Clarks Summit…The 15 hits and 12 runs were season-highs for the Chargers…DeKok it hitting .500 this season with five hits in 10 at-bats
 
Up Next: Lancaster Bible is off on Wednesday, but returns to the field on Thursday to face Greenville (11:30 a.m.), and Centenary (3:30 p.m.).
