Lancaster Bible Sweeps Past Keuka

The Lancaster Bible College men's volleyball team ran its North Eastern Athletic Conference winning streak to 13 matches on Friday night, as the Chargers defeated Keuka, 3-0 in Keuka Park, N.Y. The Chargers, won won, 25-21, 25-20, 25-15, are now 17-4 overall this season and 4-0 in conference play, while the Wolves dropped to 9-8 overall and 1-3 in NEAC action.
 
Eleventh-ranked Lancaster Bible hasn't lost a NEAC match since April 1, 2017 when they suffered a 3-0 setback to Penn St. Altoona. The Chargers won their final NEAC match that season, and then won all eight conference matches last season, and are now 4-0 this season.
 
How it Happened: Lancaster Bible won the first four points of the contest, as Nate Miller had two kills, and Zeke Hallman and Benjamin Herb added kills as well. Keuka returned the favor, and won seven of eight points midway through the opening set to take a 12-10 lead. Trailing 15-13 later in the set, the Chargers won five of six points for an 18-16 lead, as Miller slammed home a kill, followed by a Wolves error to build the two-point edge. The Chargers eventually earned set point, and after two Keuka points, Daniel Kreider won the set for Lancaster Bible has he hammered home a kill.
 
Keuka opened the second set well, and built a 13-10 advantage midway through the second frame. Lancaster Bible earned four straight points for a 14-13 lead, as Herb served up an ace to give the Chargers the lead. Keuka battled back to tie the match at 18-18, but kills from Miller and Herb rebuilt a Chargers lead to 20-18, and Lancaster Bible won the final four points of the set, and won, 25-20.
 
Lancaster Bible was in control throughout the third set, and led, 16-9 after winning six of seven points. Miller had two aces and a kill during the run, and Lancaster Bible's defense was on full showcase as well, as Kole Horst and Zeke Hallman teamed up for a block assist, and Hallman and Kaleb Ansell combined for a block on the next point as well. Kills from Hallman and Miller ended the set and match, as the Chargers earned a 25-15 third frame victory.
 
By the Numbers: Lancaster Bible had 38 kills and 16 errors on 87 attempts for a .253 hitting percentage, while the Wolves posted 29 kills and 15 errors on 85 attempts for a .165 attack percentage…The Chargers led in aces, 5-1, and held a 35-31 advantage in digs…Miller finished with a match-high 15 kills, and also added eight digs and two aces…Herb added seven kills and two aces, while Kreider had five kills…Horst had five kills and 11 digs, while Hallman added five kills and three blocks…Ansell posted 35 assists and three digs, and Kurt Maysilles had four digs…Brad McKnight had eight kills to lead the Wolves.
 
Information Hodge Podge: Lancaster Bible is now 7-6 all-time against Keuka…The Chargers are now 6-1 in true road matches this season, and 9-3 in all matches away from Horst Athletic Center…Lancaster Bible has posted a 52-13 set record this season…The Chargers have had 32 or more kills in 20 of their 21 matches this season.
