Cougars Pounce on Chargers

The Lancaster Bible College men's volleyball team saw its six-match winning streak come to an end on Wednesday night, as the 11th ranked Chargers fell to 3rd ranked Kean, 3-0 in Union, N.J. The Chargers are now 16-4 overall this season after the 25-16, 25-23, 25-22 defeat, while the Cougars improved to 17-3.

How it Happened: Kean won 10 of the first 13 points, as the Chargers called timeout to break up the scoring run, and then took two straight points on Cougars' errors, but Kean rebounded and eventually took a 15-6 advantage on an ace from Jacob Milnazik. Lancaster Bible closed the gap to 19-11 later in the set after Nate Miller had a solo block, followed by a block assist by Benjamin Herb and Daniel Kreider, but the Cougars had too much offense in the opening set, and won, 25-16.

Lancaster Bible jumped out to a 3-1 lead in the second set, as Kole Horst and Miller had early kills for the Chargers. The Chargers eventually led, 7-3, as Miller crushed three more kills, but Kean responded, and tied the set at 8-8 after another service ace. The Cougars eventually built a 20-16 advantage, but Lancaster Bible won four of five points late in the set, and trailed just 22-21 after another kill from Miller. Lancaster Bible couldn't get over the hump however, and the teams traded points the rest of the way, and Kean won the set, 25-23 on a kill from Kamil Garbowski.

Kean raced out to a 9-3 lead in the third set, but the Chargers took the next three points, and closed the deficit to 15-14 midway through the set after four more kills from Miller. After the Cougars won a point, Lancaster Bible took the next two, and tied the set at 16-16 on an error by Milnazik. Kean recovered and won the next three points, though Lancaster Bible narrowed the deficit to 20-18 after a kill from Horst, and then to 21-20 following an error by the Cougars. Again, the Chargers did everything they could to tie or take the lead, but Kean won the final two points, and closed the set and match on an ace.
