Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse | | Zach Freeman

Second Half Woes Doom Chargers

The Lancaster Bible College women's lacrosse team saw its two-game win streak come to an end on Saturday, as the Chargers lost to Medaille, 18-11 at Donald H. Funk Field. Lancaster Bible drops to 3-10 overall and 2-3 in North Eastern Athletic Conference play, while the Mavericks improve to 6-6 overall and 2-3 in NEAC action.

How it Happened: Medaille scored the first two goals of the game, but Lancaster Bible senior Hannah Thompson got the Chargers on the board with 18:37 remaining in the opening half with her 52nd goal of the season. After another Medaille goal, Thompson scored again, followed by teammate Kaylee Boger, and the Chargers knotted the game at 3-3.

The Mavericks scored the next three goals of the game, but the Chargers hung tough, as Thompson completed the hat trick with 5:31 left in the half, and fellow senior Raegan Horst followed with a goal 17 seconds later, to make it a 6-5 game in favor of Medaille. The Mavericks would score once more in the half, and took a 7-5 lead into the break.

The teams exchanged goals in the opening five minutes of the second half, but goals from Thompson and Boger again brought the Chargers to within one, 9-8 with 22:21 remaining. That's as close as Lancaster Bible would get however, as Medaille scored seven of the game's next eight goals, and took a 16-9 lead on Claire Purdy's 22nd goal of the year with 4:11 to play. Late goals from Boger and Thompson kept the Chargers around a bit long, but it was not enough.
