The Lancaster Bible College women's lacrosse team lost its opening game of a weekend in upstate New York, as the Chargers lost to Cazenovia, 18-9 in Cazenovia, N.Y. The loss sends the Chargers to 3-11 overall this season and 2-4 in North Eastern Athletic Conference play, while the Wildcats improved to 5-6 overall and 2-4 in conference action.

How it Happened: The host Wildcats scored 28 seconds into the game, and again a minute later, as Breana Howe had both goals. Cazenovia scored again to make it 3-0, but the Lancaster Bible defense calmed down, and senior
Raegan Horst got the Chargers on the board 7:42 into the contest, and scored again almost six minutes later to make it a 3-2 game.

Cazenovia controlled play the rest of the half however, and scored four straight goals to make it 7-2, but
Kaylee Boger scored with 1:27 to play in the half to make it 7-3. The Wildcats added a late goal as well, and led 8-3 at the end of the first half.

Lancaster Bible scored the first two goals of the second half, as Boger and
Kaitlyn Myers scored 3:17 apart, and trimmed the Chargers' deficit to 8-5. Cazenovia fought right back and restored their five-goal lead at 10-5, but Lancaster Bible refused to go away, and scored the next two goals of the game.
Hannah Thompson and
Sarah Vega posted goals 1:01 apart, and the Chargers trailed 10-7 with 22:10 remaining.

The Chargers' offense went quiet after Vega's goal, and Cazenovia netted three straight goals, taking a 13-7 advantage with 14:20 to play. A goal from Lancaster Bible's
Maelynne Patey broke up the scoring run by Cazenovia, but only momentarily, as the Wildcats scored four more goals, and led 17-8 with five minutes to play. Each team scored a goal in the final 4:40 of the game, as Boger completed her hat trick for the Chargers.

By the Numbers: Lancaster Bible led in shots 28-27, while both teams had 21 shots on goal…Cazenovia picked up 33 ground balls, while the Chargers had 31…The Wildcats led in draw controls, 16-13…Boger finished with three goals and an assist, while Horst had two goals and an assist…Horst also picked up seven ground balls and had three draw controls…Thompson finished with a goal and an assist, and also had six draw controls and six ground balls…
Courtney Stump was the only player with multiple assists, as she had two, as well as two ground balls.

Information Hodge Podge: Lancaster Bible is now 1-11 all-time against Cazenovia…The Chargers' only win against the Wildcats came last season in Lancaster… The Chargers are now 1-7 on the road this season…Lancaster Bible is being outscored, 111-69 in the first half of games this season…Lancaster Bible's streak of three straight games with double-digit goals came to an end on Friday…The 36 turnovers on Friday were the second-most this season for the Chargers.
