Lancaster Bible Falls at Penn St. Harrisburg, 6-3

The Lancaster Bible College men's tennis team saw its three-match win streak come to an end on Thursday, as the Chargers wrapped up their regular season with a 6-3 loss at Penn St. Harrisburg. Lancaster Bible is now 8-3 overall, while the Nittany Lions improved to 9-9 this season. Lancaster Bible will be the top seed in next week's North Eastern Athletic Conference Playoffs, and will await other teams to finish their NEAC schedule to determine the playoff matchups.
 
How it Happened: Penn St. Harrisburg won two of the three doubles matches on Thursday, taking the No. 1 doubles contest, 8-3, as Luke Newberry and Keven Vallette took the loss for the Chargers. Tyler Norris and Ming Bowser dropped their match at No. 2 doubles, 8-2, while the No. 3 team of Yancy Butler and Derice Butler stayed perfect this season with an 8-4 victory. The Butler brothers are now 8-0 this season in doubles play.
 
Newberry fell just short at No. 1 singles, as he lost, 3-6, 6-4, 7-5 to Hyun Jun Kwon. Norris lost, 6-2, 6-3 at No. 2 singles, while Yancy Butler suffered a 6-2, 6-3 setback at No. 3 singles. Bowser took a rare loss at No. 4 singles, losing to Austin Stehman, 6-3, 6-3. Vallette picked up a 6-4, 6-4 victory at No. 5 singles, while Derice Butler won a tough match at No. 6 singles, as he and opponent Orlando Pham split the first two sets, and Butler then won a tie-breaker, instead of a third set, to take the match, 7-5, 4-6, 7-3.
 
Information Hodge Podge: Lancaster Bible is now 0-9 all-time against Penn St. Harrisburg…The Chargers are 4-3 on the road this season…Vallette has won two straight singles matches, and is now 7-2 overall this season…Derice Butler has won two straight matches as well, and is now 5-4 overall this season.
 
Up Next: Lancaster Bible will be the top seed in next week's NEAC Playoffs, as the men's tournament will be held April 24-26 in Clarks Summit, Pa…The team portion of the event will be held first on Wednesday night and Thursday morning, while the individual portion of the tournament will be held Thursday evening and Friday morning and afternoon.
