The Lancaster Bible College women's tennis team extended its program-record winning streak on Saturday, as the Chargers defeated Penn St. Berks, 6-3 in Reading, Pa. The Chargers are now 6-2 overall and 2-0 in North Eastern Athletic Conference play, while the Nittany Lions dropped to 2-8 overall and 1-1 in NEAC action.

How it Happened: Lancaster Bible's streak of doubles victories was snapped on Saturday, but the Chargers still won two of the three doubles matches, as the No. 2 team of
Michaela Dearborn and
Haylee Fishel was victorious, 8-4. The No. 3 team of
Sarah Wetzel and
Kenedi Berkhimer also won, 8-5, while
Greta Strunk and
Kayla Hubbard lost, 8-5.

Strunk got her revenge in No. 1 singles action, defeating Alyssa Miller, 6-4, 6-1, while Dearborn dropped a close match at No. 2 singles, 7-6 (8), 6-2. Hubbard ran her winning streak to seven, as she defeated Deismy Jimenez, 6-4, 6-4 at No. 3 singles. Fishel earned a hard-fought win at No. 4 singles, 6-2, 4-6, 7-6 (4), and Wetzel lost a tough match at No. 5 singles, 7-6 (4), 6-3. Berkhimer cruised in her No. 6 contest, winning, 6-3, 6-0.

Information Hodge Podge: Saturday is the first time in program history the Chargers have ever defeated Penn St. Berks, and the Chargers are now 1-11 overall against the Nittany Lions…Hubbard is 7-1 in singles play this season, while Strunk is 6-2, and Berkhimer is 5-2…The Chargers are 3-1 on the road this season.
