Chargers Complete Weekend Sweep of Bison

The Lancaster Bible College baseball team completed a three-game weekend sweep of Gallaudet on Sunday, as the Chargers defeated the Bison, 25-1 in game one of a doubleheader, and took game two, 20-11. Lancaster Bible is now 6-9 overall this season, and evened its North Eastern Athletic Conference record at 3-3. The Bison dropped to 7-18 overall and 0-6 in conference action.
 
Game 1
Lancaster Bible 25, Gallaudet 1
How it Happened: Gallaudet opened the scoring in the top of the first on an RBI single from Cameron Upton, but Lancaster Bible answered with a run in the bottom half of the inning on an RBI hit from Jacob Schenck, and it was all Chargers from that point.
 
Nate McFarland had an RBI single in the second inning, and Will Welsh followed with a three-run home run to make it 7-1. Schenck followed with another home run right after Welsh, and the Chargers scored six more runs in the third inning as well. Beau Heagy hit a three-run home run in the fourth inning to make it 18-1. Luis Padilla homered in the fifth inning, and Heagy added his second three-run home run of the game in the sixth inning.
 
Inside the Box Score: Lancaster Bible had 19 hits in game one, as McFarland went 3-for-3 with three runs and two RBIs…Welsh finished 3-for-5 with six RBIs and a run scored, while Heagy was 3-for-5 with six RBIs and four runs scored…Josh Saufley was 1-for-2 with two talks, three runs and two RBIs…Padilla was 3-for-4 with four runs and three RBIs…Schenck was 2-for-3 with three RBIs and two runs…Mike VanDame was 1-for-5 with two runs and an RBI, and Jacob Alvarez was 1-for-1 with a walk, a run and an RBI…Trevor High was in complete control in game one, as he allowed just three hits and one run, while striking out five in six innings of work…Trevor Prevost pitched the seventh inning and struck out his first collegiate batter.
 
Game 2
Lancaster Bible 20, Gallaudet 11
How it Happened: Adam Cohick got the Chargers on the board in game two, as he hit a two-run double to score McFarland and Saufley in the bottom of the first. Jake Hahn added an RBI single later in the inning that scored Welsh, and the Chargers were off and running.
 
Gallaudet answered back in the third inning, as Winston Lane tied the game with a three-run home run to left field. Welsh homered in the bottom of the inning to give the Chargers the lead once again, and Colin Myers smacked a two-run home run later in the inning as well. Welsh hit another long ball in the fourth inning, and Lancaster Bible opened the game up in the fifth when Jaden Pinkney hit a two-run double to left, and Schenck hit a three-run bomb to left field after Welsh was intentionally walked.
 
The Bison scored three times in the seventh inning to get back to within eight, 14-6, but Lancaster bible scored four more times in the bottom half of the inning, and took an 18-6 lead into the eighth inning. Welsh capped the Chargers' scoring in the bottom of the eighth with his third home run, as he crushed a two-run home run to center field.
 
Inside the Box Score: Lancaster Bible had 21 more hits in game two, as Welsh led the way with going 4-for-4 with five runs, four RBIs and two walks…Pinkney was 3-for-3 with three runs and two RBIs, and Saufley was 3-for-5 with two runs and two RBIs…Myers finished 3-for-5 with four RBIs and three runs, while Cohick and Hahn had two hits and two RBIs…Schenck was 1-for-4 with a walk, three RBIs and two runs…Lancaster Bible starter Tyler Greenly threw 6 2/3 innings and scattered seven hits, while striking out five…Zach Clemens, Alec Gordley and Josh Noll also pitched for the Chargers in game two.
 
Information Hodge Podge: Lancaster Bible is now 18-21-1 all-time against Gallaudet…The 74 runs over a three-game span are the most in program history, breaking the record that was set last season in Myrtle Beach, S.C., when the Chargers scored 60 runs over a three-game span…Lancaster Bible hit 19 home runs over the weekend, also a program-record for a three-game span…The Chargers had 70 hits as well during the series and raised the team's batting average to .331…Welsh had 10 hits over the three games, scored nine runs, and had 13 RBIs…Schenck had seven hits and 12 RBIs as well.
