Royals Down Chargers

The Lancaster Bible College field hockey team dropped to 0-2 this season on Saturday, as the Chargers lost to Eastern Mennonite, 6-0 in Harrisonburg, Va. The Royals improved to 2-0 with the victory, as the home team scored four times in the second half to secure the win.

How it Happened: Eastern Mennonite opened the scoring 6:54 into the first quarter on a goal by Bri Miller, but Lancaster Bible's defense held strong after that, and trailed just 1-0 after one quarter of play.

The Chargers continued to hold back the Royals attack for much of the second quarter as well, but Casey Webb picked up a loose ball in front of the net at 25:18 of the first half, and scored to make it 2-0.

The Royals wore down the Chargers in the second half, and netted three goals in the third quarter, the first coming just 2:59 into the second half on a long shot by Brandy Troutman. Morgan Tricarico and Lauren Hartzler added goals later in the quarter, and Skylar Hedgepeth closed out the scoring 41 seconds into the fourth quarter.

Statistically Speaking: Eastern Mennonite led, 38-0 in shots, including 10-0 in shots on goal…Lancaster Bible goalkeeper Chloe Campbell made four saves for the Chargers…The Royals led, 22-0 in corners, though scored on just one of them.

The Coach Says: "We have improved from where we were last year at this time, and once we get some players healthy, I believe we will begin to generate more offense," Lancaster Bible Head Coach Becky Elliott said.
