Game Recap: Men's Soccer | | Zach Freeman

Lancaster Bible's Win Streak Snapped

The Lancaster Bible College men's soccer team saw its three-game win streak snapped on Saturday afternoon, as the Chargers lost to Penn St. Harrisburg, 2-0 at the Donald H. Funk Field. The loss drops the Chargers to 4-2 overall this season and 1-1 in North Eastern Athletic Conference play, while the Nittany Lions improved to 5-3 overall and 2-0 in conference action.

How it Happened: Lancaster Bible controlled much of the play in the opening 45 minutes, but didn't generate many offensive chances. Lancaster Bible and Penn St. Harrisburg each had two corners in the opening 10 minutes, but neither resulted in a solid chance, but just prior to the 16-minute mark, Hayden Zagorski got free down the left-hand side of the field and was able to work into the box, and fired a shot past a diving Jake Deterline, to give the Nittany Lions a 1-0 lead.

The Chargers again held much of the possession the rest of the opening half, but it resulted in just five shots over the first 45 minutes.

Penn St. Harrisburg was the aggressor early in the second half, as the Nittany Lions peppered the Lancaster Bible end with possession and shots. That possession eventually ended in a foul in the box, as a Penn St. Harrisburg was pulled down.

Joey Aman took the penalty kick that resulted from the foul in the box, and drilled a shot into the lower right-hand corner to double the Penn St. Harrisburg lead to 2-0. Lancaster Bible tried to get on the board over the final 30 minutes, but Penn St. Harrisburg put on a defensive clinic, and limited the Chargers' opportunities throughout the final third of the game.

Statistically Speaking: Penn St. Harrisburg outshot the Chargers, 13-10, including 5-2 in shots on goal…Each team had seven corner kicks…Jake Deterline made three saves for the Chargers…Nicholas Guglielmetti made two saves for the shutout…Rama Mugisha led the Chargers with three shots.
