Chargers Sweep Muskies to Begin 2020 with a Win

The Lancaster Bible College men's volleyball team opened its 2020 season with a victory on Friday night, defeating Lakeland, 3-0 in the team's opening match of the Jim Coleman Invitational held at Wittenberg University in Springfield, Ohio. The Chargers are 1-0 this season, while the Muskies dropped to 0-5. Lancaster Bible won Friday's match, 25-16, 25-15, 25-9.

How it Happened: Lancaster Bible led early in the first set, and extended the lead to 13-9 midway through the set on a kill from Kyran Flahive. The teams exchanged service errors later in the set, but back-to-back aces from Flahive gave the opening set to the Chargers, 25-16.

The second set played similar to the first, as Lancaster Bible took an early need and never looked back. Kole Horst and Zeke Hallman had three straight kills for the Chargers in the middle of the set to give Lancaster Bible a 10-6 lead, and it was Flahive who ended the set again in the second frame, as he smashed home two kills to give the Chargers a 25-15 win.

Lancaster Bible cruised in the third set, opening up a 9-3 lead thanks to back-to-back kills from Horst, and then added two more points on an ace from Flahive, and a kill from Reuben Kemrer. A kill from Benjamin Herb made it 16-6 later in the set, and the Chargers wrapped up the match with a kill from Horst.
