Chargers Win Two

The Lancaster Bible College men's volleyball team picked up two more victories on Saturday, including the team's first win over a ranked opponent this season, as the Chargers knocked off ninth-ranked Juniata, 3-0 in Huntingdon, Pa. Prior to defeating Juniata, Lancaster Bible also defeated St. Vincent, 3-0, and the Chargers are now 15-3 overall this season.

Match Notes: Lancaster Bible led by four late in the first set, and won six straight points to open a 24-14 lead, and won the set two points later…The Chargers won eight of 10 points midway through the second set, and then won eight of the last nine points of the set en route to a 25-15 win…The Chargers won six of seven points midway through the third set to take a commanding lead, and then won the match on an error by St. Vincent.
 
By the Numbers: Lancaster Bible had 37 kills and 12 errors on 66 attempts for a .379 hitting percentage, while St. Vincent had 21 kills and 10 errors on 66 attempts for a .167 hitting percentage…The Chargers also led, 11-3 in aces, and 28-17 in digs…Kyran Flahive had 10 kills and six aces to pace the Chargers, while Benjamin Herb had 10 kills and nine digs…Noah Miller had eight kills and two aces for the Chargers, while Caleb Roberts added four kills and three blocks…Reuben Kemrer had 28 assists and two aces, while Hunter Davis had three kills.
 
News & Notes: This was the first-ever match between the two teams…Lancaster Bible improved to 8-0 in neutral site matches this season.

Match Notes: The Chargers won six of seven points midway through the opening set, and then won five of the final six points of the frame to claim the opening set…Kole Horst had back-to-back kills to give the opening set to the Chargers…Lancaster Bible won eight of 10 points midway through the second set to build a 12-7 advantage, but Juniata responded with six straight points for a 13-12 lead…Lancaster Bible won four of five points later in the set for a 20-17 lead, and the teams traded points the rest of the set, and the Chargers built a 2-0 match lead on another kill from Horst…The Chargers won four straight points to open the third set, and eventually led, 12-5 after a kill from Nate Miller…Juniata closed the gap late in the set to 22-20, but Lancaster Bible won the last three points, and earned the win on an error by Juniata.
 
By the Numbers: Lancaster Bible had 44 kills and 11 errors on 91 attempts for a .363 hitting percentage…Juniata had 35 kills and 18 errors on 91 attempts for a .187 hitting percentage…The Chargers also led in blocks, 5-4, and digs, 34-32…Nate Miller led the Chargers with 17 kills and 10 digs, while also adding two aces…Horst finished with 10 kills and an ace, while Zeke Hallman had eight kills and no errors on 11 attempts…Kurt Maysilles had a team-best 11 digs, while Kemrer had 36 assists, six digs and two kills.
 
News & Notes: Lancaster Bible is now 2-2 all-time against Juniata…The Chargers defeated the Eagles, 3-1 last season in Lancaster…Lancaster Bible is now 17-1 in first sets this season…The Chargers are hitting at .315 this season…The 44 kills are the 11th time in 18 matches the Chargers have had 40 or more kills in a match this season.
