Lancaster Bible College has announced the cancellation of all spring athletic activities beginning Friday afternoon, March 13. The Lancaster Bible baseball and softball teams, which are in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina for spring break currently, may finish their remaining spring break schedule, and then their seasons will end.

The cancellation of all athletic activities, including practices, and all home and away contests, ends the season for the Lancaster Bible men's and women's tennis teams, the men's golf team, the men's volleyball team, the men's and women's track & field teams, the women's lacrosse team, and after Friday, the baseball and softball teams.

Lancaster Bible joins the North Eastern Athletic Conference, which canceled all athletic events for the rest of the semester on Thursday evening. The NEAC Presidents' Council released a statement which can be read at the bottom of this article.

Lancaster Bible Director of Athletics
Pete Beers said he feels for the seniors on each team, but trusts the tough decision the NEAC and other conferences made on Thursday is the best one in this difficult time.
Â
"I can't tell our seniors how much I hurt for them during this time," Beers said. "This is unprecedented, but we are constantly challenged to live each day as if it were our last. Today, we found out our last games of the season are this week, but regardless of how long our seasons were, bonds have been made and will carry us longer than this season. We trust that these decisions will aid the process of getting our country on the right side of this pandemic."

NEAC Presidents' Council Statement
As with any decision, the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) holds the health and well-being of our student-athletes at the forefront of everything that we do. Given the uncertainty of COVID-19, we also have a responsibility to exhibit careful consideration of all those that interact with our programs, our campuses and our greater communities. Therefore, the NEAC Presidents' Council has made the difficult decision to cancel all conference activities and championships for the remainder of the 2019-20 academic year, effective immediately.
We recognize this is a disappointing decision for our student-athletes. That is the competitive spirit that we value every day. In the wake of this decision and the rapidly-evolving state of this situation, the NEAC will be working with our member institutions in the coming days, weeks, and months to navigate through unchartered territory for our members and answer any questions that may arise. The one thing that is certain is that we will all get through this together.
As additional updates are available from the NCAA regarding eligibility questions and concerns, the NEAC will share that information with our member institutions.
Finally, we want to acknowledge the hard work and dedication of our student-athletes, coaches, and administrators throughout the 2019-20 academic year. We did not ever envision an ending such as this but we remain proud of the accomplishments of our programs this year.
