Mounties Race Past Chargers

The Lancaster Bible College men's tennis team dropped its first match of the season on Friday afternoon, falling to Mount Aloysius, 7-2 at the Ebensburg Tennis Center in Ebensburg, Pa. The Chargers dropped to 2-1 this season with the loss, while the Mounties improved to 7-4.

How it Happened: The No. 3 doubles team of Yancy Butler and Spencer Grogan picked up the lone doubles victory for the Chargers, as the duo won, 8-5. The No. 1 team of Devon Clemmer and Tyler Norris suffered an 8-2 setback, while the No. 2 team of AJ Kwiatkowski and Malachi Bomgardner lost, 8-4.

Kwiatkowski was the lone singles winner for the Chargers, as he bounced back from his doubles loss with a 6-4, 6-4 victory at No. 4 singles. Bomgardner almost did the same at No. 5 singles, as he won the first set, 6-1, but could't complete the win, and lost 7-6 in the second set, and 10-7 in the super-tie-breaking third set. Clemmer dropped his No. 1 singles match, while Norris did the same at No. 2 singles.

Butler lost his singles match at No. 3 singles, and Grogan fought at No. 6 singles, but lost to his opponent, 7-5, 6-4.

The Coach Says: "We ran into a really quality veteran team tonight," Lancaster Bible Head Coach Rod Baughman said. "It was good for many of our men to play long sets and tie breakers. I'm hoping that will help quicken the growth of our young team."

News & Notes: Lancaster Bible is now 4-4 all-time against Mount Aloysius...The doubles win for Butler was his 14th in a row.
