How It Happened
The Lancaster Bible College Women's Volleyball fell on the road in a nonconference matchup with Messiah University by a score of 3-0 on Friday, October 1.
The Chargers and Falcons traded the serve early in the game with Messiah jumping out to an 8-5 advantage. The Chargers would get their offense rolling when
Kate Stoltzfus and
Cassidy King smashed kills, sparking a 5-0 run. The Falcons would have an answer, ripping off six straight points to retake an 18-15 lead. Messiah would hold on to take the set 25-17.
Messiah would start the second set on a 7-1 run. Trailing 12-4,
Faith Hammond smashed a kill to spark the offense. Capitalizing on four hitting errors, the Chargers would use a 7-0 run to pull back within a single point. Messiah would regroup and grow the lead back to six points in route to the victory in the set.
LBC jumped out to an early lead in the third set, using a kill by Hammond to take a 4-1 lead. Messiah would battle back to the lead 9-8. Stoltzfus slammed down a kill to tie the game at nine and then she delivered a pair of service aces giving LBC a 12-9 lead. The Chargers held the lead late into the set, but Messiah closed the set on a 5-1 run to win the third set and secure the victory.
