How It Happened
The Lancaster Bible College men's basketball team challenged NCAA Division I opponent Campbell University in an exhibition game, falling by a score of 83-39 on Tuesday, November 30

The Chargers' (2-3 Overall) offense got started when Ethan Beachy knocked down his first 3-pointer of the season. Campbell (6-1 Overall) went on an 8-2 run to capture a 12-5 lead before the first media timeout of the half. Out of the timeout, Tyler Hilton knocked down a jumper to pull LBC back within five points. LBC worked hard on defense, holding the Fighting Camels' offense scoreless for over four minutes. Campbell regained its rhythm and launched into a 7-0 run to take a 12-point advantage. Grant Sareyka knocked down a pair of jump shots to slow the run and keep LBC within striking distance. Trailing by nine with 2:55 remaining in the first half, Hilton swished a 3-pointer, cutting the deficit down to six. Campbell would answer, scoring 10 straight points to seize momentum. Jordan Shewbridge knocked down a jumper to close the half, but the Chargers trailed 37-22 at the break.

After the Fighting Camels scored the first six points of the second half, Shewbridge connected on his first 3-pointer of the game. Campbell used their length and speed to frustrate the Chargers' offense, allowing them to take a 27-point lead midway through the second half. The Fighting Camels closed the game on a 24-8 run, securing the 83-39 victory.

Coaching Points
"I thought we did a good job defensively in the first half against a very good offensive team," said head coach Jon Mack. "Campbell runs a very good 5-out offense that is hard to defend. After the first media timeout we held them to six points in the paint and only three offensive rebounds for the remainder of the half. Unfortunately, some late miscues offensively allowed Campbell to extend their lead from seven to fifteen going into the half. In the second half, our offensive struggles impacted our defensive focus that led to inconsistent defensive possessions and easy points in the paint for Campbell. Overall, I was proud of our toughness and competitive effort against a solid D1 team, but we still need to get better at consistently executing on both ends of the floor. We look forward to preparing for our conference opener on Friday."
