For the second time in less than two weeks, the Lancaster Bible College men's basketball team lost to Salisbury on Friday night, as the Seagulls defeated the Chargers, 78-60 in Salisbury, Md. The Chargers are now 2-2 overall, while the Seagulls improved to 4-2.

How it Happened: Lancaster Bible jumped out to a 6-3 lead in the first two minutes of the game, as
Adam Stoltzfus' layup gave the Chargers a three-point advantage. After Salisbury tied the game and took an 8-6 lead, both offenses went cold, as neither team scored for over three minutes. Freshman
Seth Beers finally broke the dry spell with a layup that knotted the score at 8-8.

Salisbury followed with a 9-2 run to grab a 17-10 advantage, but Lancaster Bible junior
Jordan Shewbridge cut the Chargers' deficit to five, 19-14 on a layup with 8:23 to play in the first half. The Seagulls once again used another scoring run to build its lead to 11 points, as Jordan Oates' layup gave Salisbury a 25-14 lead.

The Seagulls continued to build upon their lead, and Gary Briddell's layup with 26 seconds to play stretched the lead to 42-24, before two free throws from Stoltzfus produced the halftime score of 42-26.

Things went from bad to worse in the first four minutes of the second half for the Chargers, as Salisbury built its lead to 53-30 on a 3-pointer from Oates. The Seagulls' lead eventually got to 27, though Lancaster Bible brought it back to under 20 points with 3:23 remaining. Both teams emptied their benches late in the game, as the Seagulls won, 78-60.

By the Numbers: Lancaster Bible shot just 33.9 percent (20-of-59) from the field, and 6-of-17 (35.3 percent) from 3-point range…The Chargers did shoot 77.8 percent (14-of-18) from the free throw line…Salisbury shot 43.1 percent (28-of-65) from the floor, including 39.3 percent (11-of-28) from 3-point range…Both teams had 41 rebounds, while Salisbury held an 8-2 lead in blocks, and a 17-7 edge in second-chance points…
Grant Sareyka and
Jordan Praylow each had a team-high nine points, as Praylow was 3-of-3 from the floor…Beers finished with seven points and four rebounds, while Stoltzfus had six points and eight boards…Shewbridge had four points and three rebounds, and
Caleb Carpenter had five points…
Ethan Beachy also added seven points and four rebounds…Oates finished with a game-high 27 points, as he was 9-of-14 from the field, including 6-of-9 from 3-point range.
