The Lancaster Bible College men's volleyball team capped a fantastic week on Saturday, as the Chargers swept Southern Virginia, 3-0 at Horst Athletic Center. The Chargers were swept a week ago by the Knights in Buena Vista, Va., but returned the favor with a convincing 25-18, 25-15, 25-19 victory. Lancaster Bible is now 5-3 overall this season, while Southern Virginia dropped to 2-1.

How it Happened: The teams exchanged points throughout most of the first set, but Lancaster Bible won five of six points midway the frame to grab an 18-15 lead. Senior
Kyran Flahive had two kills during the run, while junior
Caleb Roberts added a kill, and senior
Kole Horst had an ace. The Chargers led 20-18 a few moments later, and a kill from Horst ignited a five-point run to finish off the set, and the Chargers had an early lead.

Lancaster Bible raced out to an early lead in the second set, as the Chargers opened up an 11-5 advantage after winning five straight points. The Chargers continued to expand the lead throughout the set, and took a 19-10 lead after an ace from
Hunter Davis. Junior
Reuben Kemrer finished off the second set with a kill, and gave the Chargers a 2-0 advantage.

The Chargers used another early five-point run to take a 9-5 advantage early in the third set, as
Elijah Herb had a kill, and Horst added another ace. Southern Virginia kept it close for the most of the set, but three straight errors from the Knights increased Lancaster Bible's lead to 18-13, and Herb blasted another kill to make it 19-13. Lancaster Bible once again took advantage of two errors to close out the match, as the Chargers took the set, 25-19.

By the Numbers: Lancaster Bible had 33 kills and nine errors on 71 attempts for a .338 hitting percentage, while the Knights had 30 kills and 18 errors on 84 attempts for a .143 attack percentage…Lancaster Bible led 7-1 in aces, while each team had three blocks…Herb and Flahive each had nine kills, while Herb added six digs…Horst had seven kills, three aces, and four digs…Davis had three kills and two blocks, while
