The Lancaster Bible College men's basketball team posted its fifth straight victory on Saturday night, as the Chargers fought off a determined Bryn Athyn team, 70-67 in Bryn Athyn, Pa. The victory propels the Chargers to 7-2 this season, while the Lions fell to 0-2. In the process of winning its fifth straight game, the Chargers also celebrated some history on Saturday evening, as junior
Jordan Shewbridge became the 24
th player in program history to score 1,000 points, as he drained a 3-pointer early in the second half to earn the honor.

How it Happened: Lancaster Bible struggled out of the gate on Saturday, as the Chargers didn't record their first bucket until the 15:42 mark when
Andrew Zentner's jumper cut the Chargers' deficit to 8-4. Neither team could do much offensively in the opening 10 minutes, as
Jordan Shewbridge's 3-pointer with 10:06 remaining in the half gave Lancaster Bible its first lead at 12-10.

Shewbridge connected for two more 3-pointers over the next few minutes, and grew Lancaster Bible's lead to 20-15 with 7:04 to play in the opening frame. Bryn Athyn withstood the run however, and after trailing by as many as seven, cut the Lancaster Bible lead to one, 28-27 with 1:15 remaining in the half. Late free throws from
Jordan Praylow gave the Chargers a three-point edge they maintained through halftime.

Bryn Athyn took an early lead in the second half, but just 2:05 into the frame, Shewbridge drained a 3-pointer in transition and became the 24
th player in program history to surpass 1,000 points. The teams exchanged points for several minutes, but the Lions took a 46-45 lead after a free throw from Jaryn McCann. The Lions extended their lead to five, 57-52, with 6:51 remaining, but a dunk and adjoining free throw from Zentner, brought the Chargers back to within two, 57-55.

The Lions continued to lead, and McCann's dunk with 2:35 to play stretched Bryn Athyn's lead to 65-61.Trailing by four with less than two minutes to play, Zentner brought the Chargers to within two once again, and Shewbridge's jumper with 1:08 to play tied the score at 67-67.

After a turnover on Bryn Athyn's next possession, Lancaster Bible got an offensive rebound, and Shewbridge was eventually fouled with 25 seconds to play. The junior knocked down both free throws to give the Chargers a 69-67 lead, and Bryn Athyn came up empty on its next possession as well.
Tyler Hilton converted one-of-two free throws on the other end to secure the victory of the Chargers.
