The Lancaster Bible College men's volleyball team got back into the win column on Saturday, as the Chargers defeated Geneva, 3-1 in Beaver Falls, Pa. The Chargers won, 20-25, 25-20, 26-24, 25-21 and are now 2-2 this season, while the Golden Tornadoes dropped to 1-2.

How it Happened: Geneva jumped on the visiting Chargers in the opening set, opening up a 12-6 lead early in the first set, and then expanding it to 18-9 after a 5-0 run. Lancaster Bible battled back and won seven of eight points to cut the deficit to 22-19, but the Golden Tornadoes closed out the set and won, 25-20.

Lancaster Bible responded in the second frame and led 11-5 early in the second set after an error by Geneva and a kill from senior
Kole Horst. The teams exchanged points the rest of the set, and Lancaster Bible evened the match at 1-1 after an error by the Golden Tornadoes gave the Chargers the set, 25-20.

The teams went back-and-forth in a competitive third set, as Geneva won four straight points to take a 10-7 lead early in the frame. Senior
Kyran Flahive and sophomore
Elijah Herb had two straight kills to give the Chargers a slight edge midway through the set, but Geneva won six of seven points later in the frame to take a 21-16 lead. The Chargers came right back to win eight of the next 10 points, and had a set point at 24-23 thanks to a kill from
Kevin Koch. After Geneva fought off one set point to knot the score at 24-24, Horst slammed back-to-back kills to give Lancaster Bible the set, 26-24.

Lancaster Bible won another tough set in the fourth, using another 8-2 run to open an 18-11 lead. Horst, Koch, and Herb each had a kill during the run, and the Chargers eventually won the set, 25-21.

By the Numbers: Lancaster Bible had 54 kills and 27 errors on 124 attempts for a .218 hitting percentage, while Gevena had 42 kills and 20 errors on 125 attempts for a .176 attack percentage…Lancaster Bible held a 52-39 edge in digs, while the Golden Tornadoes led 8-5 in service aces…Horst led the Chargers with 19 kills and eight digs, while Flahive had 11 kills and five digs…
Hunter Davis chipped in with nine kills and four digs, while Koch had 10 kills and six blocks…
Reuben Kemrer led the Chargers with 47 assists, and also added 12 digs and four blocks…Herb finished with five kills and 17 digs.

News & Notes: This was the first-ever meeting between the two teams…Lancaster Bible is now 1-0 on the road this season after going 5-2 in away matches last year…Horst had 11 matches last season with double-digit kills…Koch's six blocks are the most in a single match in his collegiate career.
