The Lancaster Bible College softball team nearly pulled off a split of a doubleheader on Saturday in Williamsport, Pa., but Penn College's offense proved to be too much, and the Chargers were swept for the second straight day. The 11-2 and 5-4 losses send the Chargers to 2-4 overall and in conference play this season, while the Wildcats improved to 7-1 overall and 7-1 in conference action.

Penn College 11, Lancaster Bible 2 (5 innings)
How it Happened: Things began well for the Chargers in game one, as freshman
Phoebe Clemens hit her first home run of the season to give the Chargers a 1-0 lead in the top of the first. Penn College answered with three runs of its own in the bottom half of the inning, and scored again in the second to make it 4-1 after two innings.

Nicole DeKok singled home Clemens in the third to cut the Chargers' deficit to 4-2, but Penn College blew the game open in the fourth inning with seven runs, and the Chargers couldn't score in the top of the fifth, and lost 11-2.

How it Happened: Lancaster Bible scored first again in game two, as
Kendra Brown drove home
Alyssa Paulson with an RBI single in the first, and
Sonja Nelson reached on an error later in the inning that scored
Nicole DeKok.

Penn College answered back immediately with two runs in the bottom of the first, and then took a 4-2 lead in the third inning. The score remained 4-2 in favor of the home team until the seventh, when the Chargers scored in their final at-bat.

Hannah Lieb, and Clemens connected for an RBI single a batter later to tie the game at 4-4.

The Wildcats responded again, and after a single and wild pitch, Penn College's Olivia Hemstock hit an RBI single to win the game, 5-4.
