The Lancaster Bible College women's tennis team lost its first North Eastern Athletic Conference match of the season on Saturday, as the Chargers fell to Penn St. Harrisburg, 9-0 at Hempfield Rec Center in Landisville, Pa. The Chargers are now 4-3 overall and 2-1 in conference play, while the Nittany Lions improved to 3-0 overall and 1-0 in NEAC action.

Doubles: The No. 1 doubles team of
Deanna Graber and
Cara DiCiano lost to Rachael Lim and Sydney Nye, 8-3, while the No. 2 team of
Haylee Fishel and
Kenedi Berkhimer fell, 8-4. The No. 3 team featuring
Kaitlin Kirby and
Chloe Campbell dropped their match, 8-1.

Singles: Lim picked up her second win of the day with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Graber, but DiCiano made Nye work for her singles win at No. 2. DiCiano, the reigning NEAC Player of the Week, lost her first singles match of the season, but battled the whole way through her 6-3, 7-6 (7-3) loss.

Fishel dropped a 6-1, 6-3 match at No. 3 to Olivia Hitz, while Berkhimer was upended, 6-2, 6-0 at No. 4 singles by Gabrielle Sabatose. Kirby lost, 6-1, 6-0 at No. 5 singles to Annalisa Petrascu, while Campbell dropped a 6-2, 6-0 match at No. 6 singles to Isabella Pizzelanti.

Rod Baughman said. "Penn St. Harrisburg is solid top to bottom. I was proud of how our girls battled. Cara did a great job of extending her match and had some chances in the second set tiebreak. We will learn, and look forward to our next match."
