The Lancaster Bible College women's tennis team finished North Eastern Athletic Conference play with a victory on Wednesday, as the Chargers defeated Penn St. Abington, 8-1 in Abington, Pa. Lancaster Bible finishes the regular season with a 5-3 overall record, and a 3-1 mark in conference play, while the Nittany Lions fell to 1-2 overall and 1-2 in conference action. Lancaster Bible will be the second seed in next week's NEAC Playoffs, and the Chargers will host third-seeded Penn College on Tuesday, April 27 at a time to be determined.
Doubles: The No. 1 doubles team of
Deanna Graber and
Cara DiCiano picked up an 8-7 (7-5) victory to kick things off for the Chargers, and the No. 2 team of
Haylee Fishel and
Kenedi Berkhimer cruised to an 8-2 victory. Penn St. Abington only had four players compete on Wednesday, so the No. 3 team
Kaitlin Kirby and
Chloe Campbell won via a forfeit, and the Chargers swept doubles play.
Singles: Graber and Carly Martinson played a terrific match at No. 1 singles, as Martinson came away with the victory in three sets. Martinson won, 6-3, 5-7, 10-5, but the Chargers got a point back at No. 2 singles, as DiCiano defeated Michelle Ly, 6-1, 6-1. Fishel earned a 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 3 singles, while Berkhimer won 6-2, 6-3. Kirby and Campbell again via forfeits, and the Chargers earned the 8-1 victory.
