Chargers Advance to First-Ever NEAC Final

The Lancaster Bible College women's lacrosse team is headed to the North Eastern Athletic Conference Final for the first time in program history after the Chargers defeated Wells, 21-3 in the NEAC Semifinals on Sunday night at Donald H. Funk Field. The victory propels the Chargers to 6-3 this season, while the Express ended their year at 1-7. Lancaster Bible will head to top-seeded Morrisville State next Saturday for the NEAC Final, as the Mustangs defeated Mount Aloysius, 25-6 in the other NEAC Semifinal.

How it Happened: Lancaster Bible scored early and often in the first half, as the Chargers built a 3-0 lead in the first two minutes of the game. Camryn Horst scored two goals 21 seconds apart in the opening minute, and Kendal Ream's first goal of the afternoon made it 3-0 just 1:58 into the contest. Back-to-back goals from Kaitlyn Myers made it 5-0 just 6:11 into the game.

Katelynn Perrotta scored her first of the day 6:37 into the game, and two goals from Ream, and another from both Horst and Myers made it 10-0 just 8:34 into the half. Wells got on the board midway through the half, but Perrotta scored two more times, and Lancaster Bible led, 12-1 with just under 11 minutes to play. Kayla Steiner capped the scoring with 7:25 left in the half, and Lancaster Bible led 13-1 at the break.

Lancaster Bible scored the first two goals of the second half, as Perrotta and Natalie Boltz had tallies, but Wells answered with two goals of its own, and the Chargers led 15-3 with 20 minutes to play. The Chargers didn't allow another goal however, as Ream, Perrotta, and Horst each had two goals over the final 20 minutes, and the Chargers won their first-ever NEAC Playoff contest.

By the Numbers: Lancaster Bible held a 36-6 advantage in shots, including a 31-6 edge in shots on goal…Lancaster Bible also led in ground balls, 28-21, and held a whopping 23-3 advantage in draw controls…Ream finished with six goals and four assists, while Horst had five goals and four assists…Perrotta finished with five goals and two helpers, while Myers had three goals and two assists…Sara Varela added an assist, while Steiner had a goal and an assist…Alexis Garrett made three saves for her sixth victory of the year.

The Coach Says: "Our goal has a team has been to be able to attack from every direction," Lancaster Bible Head Coach Cheri Horst said. "We want to be able to attack from anywhere, and I thought we were able to do that today."

On the team's fast start: "We talked about starting the game quickly, and starting well, and that gave us confidence today," Horst said. "We didn't let up, and we took control of the game and kept it for 60 minutes. We wanted to be the first to everything, and I thought we did that."

On being the first Lancaster Bible lacrosse team to advance to the NEAC Final: "This is something no one can take from us, and we are a solid team," Horst said. "I have complete confidence in our team, and we are excited for the challenge of facing Morrisville next week."
