How It Happened
The Lancaster Bible Women's Soccer team powered past Penn College in their United East Conference Opener, defeating the Wildcats by a score of 3-0 on Saturday September 19.
The Chargers controlled possession early in the game, immediately creating scoring chances.
Kendal Ream and
Kara Huber both placed shots on frame in the opening fifteen minutes, but neither could find the back of the net. LBC would finally break through in the 33
rd minute when substitute
Abby Donaldson rocked a shot that hit off the crossbar and bounced in the goal. Donaldson's goal was the first of her young career and gave the Chargers a 1-0 lead heading into the half.
LBC continued to pressure Penn College in the second half, looking to extend their advantage. In the 66
th minute,
Kendal Ream found space at the top of the 18-yard box and launched a shot into the top middle of the goal to give the Chargers a 2-0 lead. Ream has now scored in three consecutive games. The Red & Black would tack on one last goal in the 81
st minute when
Bryanna Hoover threaded a through ball to
Kara Huber and Huber finished the scoring chance. Huber has now racked up four goals this season.
