Women's Soccer Loses Heartbreak To Waynesburg

How It Happened
The Lancaster Bible Women's Soccer team dropped a heartbreaking game to Waynesburg University, conceding a goal in the 88th minute to fall by a score of 1-0 on September 20.

The Chargers had several players making their first starts of the season. Waynesburg held most of the possession in the first half, taking 13 shots in the half. Goalkeeper Hannah Leib was up for the challenge making nine saves in the half. LBC's best scoring came in the 13th minute when Jade Weir got the ball on a counterattack, but the shot missed wide. The game remained scoreless heading into the half.

In the second half, the Yellow Jackets continued to control the game flow, taking 14 more shots. The Chargers had more success offensively creating several scoring chances. Abby Donaldson launched a shot that missed just right in the 76th minute. Several minutes later, Ketty Akselsen took a shot that also missed right. Waynesburg would finally break through in the 88th minute when Haley Johnson found the back of the net, and the Yellow Jackets would hold on for the 1-0 victory.

Inside The Numbers
- Hannah Lieb had an outstanding outing in goal, making 14 saves
- Abby Donaldson, Jade Weir, and Ketty Akselsen each fired a shot
- Waynesburg was led by Haley Johnson who scored the game's lone goal
- The Yellow Jackets held a 27-3 advantage in shots

Who's Next
The Women's Soccer team will return home to continue United East Conference play when they host defending conference champion Penn State Berks on Wednesday September 22 at 6:30 p.m.
